MOL Discusses Ways to Remedy Self-Employed Workers Related to Entertainment Venues Over 65 Years of Age

          On January 14, 2022, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong chaired the meeting to discuss ways to assist and remedy independent occupation groups regarding entertainment venues for people over 65 years of age affected by government measures. The meeting took place via Zoom Meetings, at the meeting room of the Permanent Secretary of Labour, 7th floor, Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour. Representatives from the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Culture, the National Economic and Social Development Council Office, and the Department of Administrative Affairs joined the meeting.
          The meeting discussed ways to assist and remedy self-employed persons in relation to entertainment venues over the age of 65 affected by government measures. The discussion followed the Cabinet’s resolution on December 21, 2021, which approved the results of the Loan Screening Committee’s review under the Royal Decree and the power of the Ministry of Finance to take out loans to solve economic and social issues amid the COVID-19 situation, and amendments B.E. 2564.
          In this regard, the Social Security Office has provided remedies for insured persons in entertainment businesses and independent entrepreneurs working with entertainment venues affected by government measures. Eligible persons are insured under Sections 33, 39, and 40, which the Music Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage or the Entertainment Network Confederation registered with the Ministry of Interior, or the Entertainment Network Confederation registered with the Department of Business Development for certification. The insured persons have already received the remedies. However, there are independent entrepreneurs related to entertainment venues over the age of 65 affected by government measures that do not have access to the government’s remedies. Therefore, there was a meeting to discuss ways to accelerate further assistance.
