The Permanent Secretary of Labour as the head of the Thai government delegation and regular members of the governing body, the highest executive committee of the International Labour Organization (ILO), joined the 341st Session of the Governing Body via teleconference, held between March 15 to 27, 2021, from the headquarters of the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
On March 18, 2021, at 20.30 hours, time in Thailand, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol made a statement on behalf of the ASEAN Government, on the agenda of promoting the Tripartite Declaration on Principles of Transnational Enterprises and Social Policy. It supports the implementation of various projects to create decent work in the supply chain, under the Responsible Supply Chains in Asia program, which operates in six countries, including China, Japan, Myanmar, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand. It supports the transfer of technology and knowledge of the host and recipient country of multinational corporations, to develop and enhance the skills of the people working in the receiving country. Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Pattraporn Samatrat, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and relevant officials also attended the meeting the Permanent Secretary of Labour’s meeting room, 7th floor, Ministry of Labour.
The Permanent Secretary of Labour gave a statement in the name of Thailand. She said that “Thailand has promoted this issue through the implementation of Thai Labour Standards (TLS) and Good Labour Practices (GLP). Thailand hopes to support operational activities, including discussions between multinational corporations and the receiving country, to share the responsibility of conducting business for decent work, following the Tripartite Declaration on Principles of Transnational Enterprises and Social Policy.”
This is a great opportunity for the Ministry of Labour to play a role in the highest executive committee of the ILO, a world-class labour platform.
