On August 20, 2019, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Apinya Sujarittanan, the Department of Employment’s Inspector-General Mrs. Pornpaween Weechit and the Social Security Office’s Inspector-General Mrs. Pidsamai Nithipaiboon, conducted the third round of performance assessments and met with heads of agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Chiang Rai, to monitor the overall performance of units under the government’s inspection plan. Assessments of performance according to policies emphasizing the Ministry of Labour’s urgent policies to raise the skill level of labour to be super workers, found that most of the training was completed according to the ministry’s goals. Trainees were upskilled and those who passed the training are qualified workers with the potential to develop capabilities to increase the productivity of high-tech workers. The training supported rapid changes in industrial technology and new knowledge that is conducive to promoting innovation. As a result, businesses have the potential to compete, and Thai workers in the industrial enterprises of the future will be equipped with skills and competencies that meet standards for higher income.
Driving the Safety Thailand in terms of knowledge and competency certification, the Inspector-General recommended that, in addition to the interior electricians, the Department of Skill Development also worked with private sector agencies to train and upgrade the skills of personnel in other fields, such as air conditioning installation and welding, as well as encouraging the trainees of the 2 courses to take part in the National Skill Standards assessment in the near future. These fields will be the next that will be considered to have a license, in order to guarantee the safety of life and property of people and users and will prepare and improve the skills of the workforce. Therefore, the visiting committee urged the Skill Development Institute and the Office of Skill Development to support the assessments among business operators of air conditioning repair technicians and professional welder applying for the Skill Standard assessment.
