MOL Joins Public and Private Sectors in Promoting Health Among Working Population

    The Labour Minister signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for health promotion and disease prevention for people in the workplace, launching 10 guidelines for the promotion of health and environment in the workplace.

           Today (September 12, 2019) at 09.00 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng joined as a witness and Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol as the signatory in the signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Cooperation for health promotion and disease prevention for people in the workplace and launch of 10 guidelines for the promotion of health and environmental in the workplace. Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul chaired and witnessed the agreement at the Grand C meeting room, 4th floor, Miracle Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok.

 

 

 

          The Memorandum of Cooperation is an integration between the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Industry, Bangkok Administration, Federation of Thai Industries and the Private Hospital Associations. It aims to carry out health promotion activities, prevent diseases, reduce unwanted behaviours against chronic and occupational diseases among the working population who play a role in driving the economy of families and the nation. Therefore, it is necessary to have good health, good income, and live longer. According to surveys and research, 3 in 4 working-age deaths are caused by chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular diseases, that comes from lifestyle habits. If the working population are healthy, this will reduce medical and public health expenses, which will establish better economic and fiscal status to develop the nation further.
          In the afternoon, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Tosapol Kritawongwiman participated in a discussion on “the step of success to the integration of work-driven health promotion and disease prevention for working people.”
