MOL Joins Reception of King and Queen in Royal Barge Procession

           The Permanent Secretary of Labour led the Ministry of Labour’s executives, civil servants, and officials to participate in the reception of HM the King and HM the Queen as they traveled along Phra Nakhon in a barge procession for the royal coronation ceremony in 2019.

           On December 12, 2019, at 11.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol led the Ministry of Labour’s executives, civil servants, and officials to attend the reception and praise the royal acts of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty Queen Suthida on a royal barge procession along the capital for the royal coronation ceremony. The occasion took place from 15.30 hours at Suan Luang Rama 8, Arun Amarin Road, Bang Yi Ruea, Bang Phlat, Bangkok.

           The royal barge procession marks the conclusion of the coronation, after the starting and middle ceremonies. The procession along Phra Nakhon was completed between April to May in 2019.

           According to ancient traditions in the coronation, the King will proceed alongside Phra Nakhon in a royal procession which is the “Military March” (a procession on land) and the “Royal Barge Procession” (a procession on water) to allow the public and citizens to show their loyalty to the monarchy.

           The Royal Barge Procession for King Rama 10 had 5 boat processions arranged according to the royal tradition. The total length of the procession was 1,200 meters, using a total of 52 boats and 2,399 rowers. The procession started from Wasukri pier and continued along the Chao Phraya River to Ratchaworadit pier, covering 3.4 kilometers.
