MOL Kicks Off Help for SMEs to Mold Super Workers 2019 With Aim of 15,000 Employees

 

          Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo gave a speech after the opening of the project. He said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, prepared a 20-year national development strategy to boost the country’s competitiveness concerning the economy, investment and industry, together with the workforce development towards a Thailand 4.0. The Ministry of Labour has therefore formed urgent policies to develop workers’ skills to become super workers to support 10 target industries in the EEC, special economic zones and nationwide. The Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development has been assigned to implement the STEM Workforce Towards SME 4.0 project for the 2019 fiscal year to meet the said policy. It focuses on over 3 million SMEs, OTOP groups and community enterprises, covering more than 11 million people. The total economic value exceeds 5 trillion Baht.
          Pol.Gen. Adul said that this project, it is the proactive approach towards small and medium enterprises to provide in-depth advice to businesses and develop the skills of employees in the workplace in creating awareness in knowing the value of limited resources and maximizing their benefits. It also aims to build understanding with regards to potential loss in the work process, take corrective action, continuously improve and be able to apply guidelines to increase labour productivity and reduce losses in the production/service cycle, sustainably. In the past, 85,482 employees have gone through skills training, valued over 5 billion Baht, creating stability for 1,103 establishments. For 2019, the target is set to provide consultation to 228 establishments with a consultation duration of 210 days/establishment and provide workforce training to 15,420 employees to become super workers.
          “The implementation of the project does not only expect quantitative or numerical output but also considers the stability of the workforce, developing systematical thinking and application of technology and innovation to increase labour productivity. When companies and employees in SME and OTOP enterprises are developed, this will strengthen the foundation economies and increase national competitiveness towards a Thailand 4.0, ” concluded the Labour Minister.
