The Labour Minister’s Assistant joined the discussion with the YPO business group to listen to the problems of business operators affected by COVID-19, while building trust with the entrepreneurs to allow businesses to revitalize quickly. The Ministry of Labour is ready to help following its measures to remedy employees and reduce the impacts of COVID-19.
On May 27, 2020, at 10.00 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Dr. Duangrit Benjathukul Chairungrueng chaired a meeting with the YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization) business group. The group has approximately 200 members in Thailand and over 10,000 in the world. The meeting took place over Zoom, to listen to the problems of entrepreneurs affected by COVID-19. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, along with the Ministry of Labour’s executives and staff from departments under the Ministry of Labour also participated in the event, which took place at the meeting room on the 10th floor, Department of Skill Development.
The Labour Minister’s Assistant discussed the Ministry of Labour’s remedial measures related to the Covid-19 situation, such as guidelines for the treatment of patients with COVID-19, compensation to employees, skills development in accordance with the needs of employers and COVID-19 outbreak control measures among foreign worker groups. From there, representatives from various establishments, led by Khun Kanet Chathammarak, Khun Nanthamalee Piromphakdee and committee inquired about various issues in regard skills development during the COVID-19 period, systematic labour migration, job placement matching between businesses that need people, online vocational training supports with modern technology and looking after the benefits of the insured person in the social security system, both now and in the future. They also asked about measures to assist employees affected by the temporary shutdown due to force majeure.
Dr. Duangrit further said that Labour Minister M.R. Chatu Mongol Sonakul showed concern for workers affected by COVID-19. If the situation is not resolved, the Ministry of Labour will consider various policies and extend the period regarding measures to assist and treat employees, employers and establishments to build confidence among business operators to allow the companies to revitalize quickly.
