MOL Prepares to Lead Kluaynamthai Hospital Management Team to Provide Funding and Careers Supporting the Aging Society

Content Description

On January 27, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat reported that because the world is faced with changing demographics, the number of newborn children has declined, and the elderly population has increased. Thailand is the same. To support the aging society, the Thai government has made the aging society a national agenda. Due to the working-age ratio, the nation must bear the burden of raising the elderly, which is an age that enters a more dependent state. Some elderly people are still healthy and can work to help and take care of themselves. But there are still elderly people who need to be cared for. In this part, the government must provide care service and will need to expand in personnel performing duties, such as bathing, dressing, eating, and taking care of health issues; being in all its forms is therefore necessary.

Prof. Narumon added that Kluaynamthai Hospital had organized the “Funding to Build a Career” project, providing professional courses in caring for the elderly to help unemployed youths and women and disadvantaged groups who don’t have the funding and want to study a short course and have a stable career. The elderly care professional course is a 6-month course provided at Kluaynamthai Hospital. The course is fully funded. After completing this course, trainees can work with Kluaynamthai Hospital’s affiliated companies. The duration of employment is two years. After that, the trainees are allowed to work in other organizations as desired. On January 30, 2021, the Kluaynamthai Hospital management team and the committee will visit Narathiwat to publicize and invite people interested in applying for the training. They will then expand the target group to the North and the Isaan region to enable access to cover the whole country. It is hoped that the target audience will have the opportunity to study at a higher level and opportunities to advance in their careers and to continue working.

“Being a caretaker for the elderly is a very important task so that the elderly can live happily every day and be free to live the quality of life that they want. Because of their deteriorated physical condition and chronic diseases, the care for them must be adjusted accordingly. The main principle is that those elderly people can lead their own lives with the least reliance on others and live happily throughout the rest of their lives,” concluded the Deputy Labour Minister.
