MOL Promotes Capacity of Labour Volunteer Networks to Integrate with Missions on Human Trafficking Prevention and Resolution

          Advisor to the Labour Minister commenced a capacity building workshop for labour volunteer networks, to integrate with the Ministry of Labour’s missions, and the project to drive policies to implementation on prevention and resolution of labour trafficking in Lampang, for 2020.

          Today (January 7, 2020), Advisor to the Labour Minister Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jak Punchoopet presided over the opening ceremony of the capacity building workshop for labour volunteer networks, to integrate with the Ministry of Labour’s missions, and the project to drive policies to implementation on the prevention and resolution of labour trafficking in Lampang, for 2020. The event took place at the Lom Rak Conference Room at Ban Mae Resort, Muang, Lampang. The Labour Minister’s Advisor said, “The Ministry of Labour recognizes the importance of labour volunteer networks, which is a mechanism to drive labour services to people in communities at the provincial, district, sub-district and village levels. The initiative aims to solve problems and meet the needs of people through the integration of service and activities of agencies under the Ministry of Labour in the province, to serve the people in local areas. This will expand opportunities for employment, enhance professional skills for career choice, provide advice on labour law and social security, including publicizing labour documents to people in the community to ensure everyone receives labour services from agencies under the Ministry of Labour thoroughly. Labour volunteers are a key driving force for the Ministry of Labour’s missions.”

          This meeting’s objective is to provide labour volunteer networks and department officials under the Ministry of Labour to acknowledge policies and guidelines for driving the Ministry of Labour’s mission. It provides additional knowledge that is useful to the labour volunteer networks and department officials under the Ministry of Labour, about the mission and labour information, including the prevention and resolution of forced labour, human trafficking, and child labour. It aims to create more efficient labour services and integration between agencies under the Ministry of Labour and labour volunteer networks. The target group is 100 labour volunteers from systems in Lampang, 14 labour volunteer supervisors, and 14 staff specializing in human trafficking prevention.
