The Office of the Permanent Secretary was awarded for the human rights model organization of 2019 in the category of government agencies. The award came from the Human Rights and Liberties Protection Department, Ministry of Justice, to develop organizations by applying basic human rights principles to manage and operate at all levels.
On September 20, 2019, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General Mr. Tawat Benchatikul to receive the award for human rights model organization of 2019, in the category of government agencies. He was awarded by Justice Minister Somsak Thepsuthin who presided over the ceremony. The Permanent Secretary of Labour assigned Academic Labour Advisor Mr. Kittipong Laoniphon as a guest speaker on the Office of the Permanent Secretary’s performance on human rights. He also joined the discussion revealing the secret to success in being an award-winning human rights organization, with other awarded government agencies and private sectors organizations, such as PTT PCL and IRPC PCL. The meeting took place at Jupiter Room 4 – 7, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani Exhibition and Convention Center, Pak Kred, Nonthaburi.
The Office of the Permanent Secretary for Labour has departments responsible for promoting employment, enhancing the quality of life and providing protection for fundamental rights for government official, formal and informal workers, the elderly, people with disabilities, in both central and regional areas, including foreign countries. It is also responsible for allocating budgets to support the operations of each mission to follow the criteria for evaluating human rights model organizations (government), at the minimum standards which all agencies must comply with, and high standards for being a human rights model organization.
The Human Rights Model Organization Project organized by the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection, Ministry of Justice, is an organization development concept that uses human rights principles as a basis for management and operations at all levels, to promote respect for human rights in organizations. It has adopted policies from the United Nations and the 4th draft of the National Human Rights Development Plan as a framework for consideration of the preparation of criteria and evaluation methods. Its objective is to select government organizations, state enterprises, and private business organizations which are outstanding regarding human rights, which will become human rights model organizations that can become a prototype to other organizations.
