October 26, 2025, 10.00 hours – Pol. Lt. Col. Wannapong Kotcharak, Permanent Secretary of Labour, assigned Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, to preside over the Royal Kathina Robe Offering Ceremony of the Ministry of Labour for the year 2025. This ceremony was held on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua graciously granting royal robes to the Ministry of Labour for presentation to the Buddhist monks who have completed their three-month Lent retreat at Wat Kuhasawan Worawihan, Mueang District, Phatthalung Province. The offering was made as an act of royal merit in honour of His Majesty the King, as well as a gesture of loyalty to the monarchy through support for Buddhism and royal temples, while preserving Thailand’s long-standing religious and cultural traditions.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Somchai Maruksriwan, the Ministry of Labour’s Chief Inspector-General, Ms. Bunyawee Khaipan, Ms. Kanchana Poolkaew, and Sub-Lt. Somsak Promdam, and Mr. Sibmuenchai Phothisin, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-Generals, Mr. Krirkrai Nasamoyon, Legal Advisor, and Mr. Nattawut Phatprayoon, Labour Academic Advisor. They were joined by senior executives, civil servants, and officials from all the Ministry of Labour’s agencies, provincial labour officers from Phatthalung and nearby provinces, local government leaders, private-sector representatives, and Buddhist devotees from Phatthalung, who came together to participate in the ceremony. On this occasion, donors and participants contributed funds for the preservation of Buddhism and the renovation of the temple, raising a total of 2,205,353 Baht. Additionally, the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Labour presented educational scholarships to Satri Phatthalung School and the Weeranat Foundation School.
The Royal Kathina Ceremony is a traditional Buddhist offering in which His Majesty the King bestows royal robes upon ministries, departments, organisations, or groups who have respectfully requested permission to present them to monks residing in royal temples, apart from those temples where His Majesty himself presides over the ceremony or assigns a royal representative. The Ministry of Labour has organised this annual Royal Kathina Robe Offering continuously every year, in line with the Buddhist tradition observed for generations. The ceremony symbolises support for monks who have completed the three-month Buddhist Lent retreat, provides merit for the community, and serves as a means of temple restoration and maintenance. It also represents unity in body, speech, and mind, fostering social harmony while strengthening and upholding Buddhism for its continued prosperity and endurance in Thai society.
