Content Description

On October 21, 2020, at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol chaired the Tripartite Committee meeting to drive the implementation of the National Plan for Decent Work in Thailand 2019 – 2021, No.1/2020 at the Pullman Hotel King Power, Bangkok. He said that this was the first meeting of the year, whereby the Decent Work Country Program (DWCP) is a framework of cooperation that the ILO has created with member countries to provide assistance and support to member countries. The framework incorporates strategic planning and clear goals that align with the context and the urgent economic and social agendas to achieve the Promotion of Decent Work for All goals. He said that the DWCP should be developed through joint consultation of the three parties, whether governments, employers, and employees, and a timeframe must be established.
The Thailand Decent Work Country Program (TDWCP) 2019 – 2021 was launched to celebrate the founding anniversary of the ILO and Thailand’s 100th membership anniversary on April 11, 2019. There are three important priorities in Thailand’s national program, including 1. The promotions of an environment conducive to employment growth and productivity. 2. Strengthen labour protection, and 3. Strengthen labour market supervision in line with international labour standards.
Currently, the relevant departments have been implementing the plan for a while already. The Ministry of Labour and the ILO, therefore, set a meeting to monitor progress and review programs for half the plan duration, to acknowledge progress, challenges and take lessons to provide opportunities for the committees to participate in the discussion. The meeting also allows comments from participants to ensure the next phase of the plan’s success according to its objectives. On behalf of the Ministry of Labour, the Permanent Secretary of Labour thanked the committee, especially representatives of employers’ organizations and employees in working with the government to create decent work for everyone in Thailand. He also thanked the ILO for supporting the valuable work for everyone in Thailand through cooperation in various projects, including projects that have already been successful and upcoming in the future.
