On February 19, 2025, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, chaired the opening ceremony of the campaign to boost participation for worker families, drive policies, and create a safety culture. He also witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to declare the “Safety Culture Together in the Workplace Campaign” the (Den Chai – Chiang Rai – Chiang Khong Railway Construction Project, Contract 1, Den Chai – Ngao Section). Mr. Somchai Lertprasitphan, Governor of Phrae Province, executives of the Ministry of Labour, heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phrae Province, and private sector executives joined the welcome at the ITD – Nawarat Joint Venture Field Office Building, Thung Nao Subdistrict, Song District, Phrae Province.
Mr. Boonsong said that the Ministry of Labour attaches importance to driving work on occupational safety, including the policies of Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, who announced his intention and carried out activities to create a safety culture within the workplace. In 2025, the goal is to reduce the rate of serious work-related accidents from the current 2.03 people per 1,000 employees to no more than 1 per 1,000 employees and the rate of fatalities from the current 4.66 per 100,000 employees to no more than 3 per 100,000 employees. In order to achieve the goal of reducing the rate of occupational accidents, cooperation from all sectors is required. The government is driving work on welfare and labour protection, occupational health and safety, and work environment. It strives to take care of employees who are injured at work. Furthermore, the private sector, employers, and employees have jointly and continuously campaigned to create awareness and safe work behavior, leading to the sustainable establishment of a safety culture in the organization.
“The signing of the MOU to announce the “Safety Culture Together in the Workplace Campaign” is a collaboration between the Ministry of Labour, represented by the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, the State Railway of Thailand, the ITD – Nawarat joint venture, and the Construction Supervision Service Provider Group, CSDC, to drive the policy to create a safety culture effectively and to spread it throughout the country,” said Mr. Boonsong.
