Permanent Secretary of Labour Joins Labour Commission in Preparation to Drive Thai Workers Under Economic and Technological Fluctuations

          The Permanent Secretary of Labour joined the discussion at the seminar on “The Role of the Labour Commission in Driving Thai Workers under the Economic and Technological Fluctuations,” preparing the workforce to support all-round technological changes.
          On November 27, 2019, at 13.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol joined the discussion at the seminar on “The Role of the Labour Commission in Driving Thai Workers under the Economic and Technological Fluctuations” organized by the Senate Committee on Labour. The workshop took place at the Panorama Room, 14th floor, The Emerald Hotel, Ratchadaphisek Road, Bangkok. The Permanent Secretary of Labour discussed the trends and impacts on Thai labour strategies and government policies, the role of the Ministry of Labour, the role of the ILO, international laws affecting Thai labour and preparations to support changing technologies. The Ministry of Labour has prepared the development of curriculum for skills development, supporting new forms of business operations (Platform Workers), a management system for foreign workers by promoting arrangements through MOU channels, including improving labour laws to meet international standards.
          
 

 

 

         The seminar was organized to enhance knowledge and understanding about the working direction of the Senate Labour Commission, following the current labour situation under the changing economy and technologies. It discussed duties and responsibilities related to driving the national reform and strategy to determine the direction of work following the missions of the Senate Labour Commission. It also created an action plan of the Labour Commission in 2019 to serve as a framework for driving purposes, duties, and responsibilities to achieve goals. Participants included the Senate Labour Committee, Subcommittee on Commission and Advisors, Subcommittee Advisors, Experts, Specialists and Scholars, and Secretary of the Faculty, totaling 125 people.
