“Pol.Gen. Adul” Commences “Combining State Power to Promote Elderly Employment” 2019 Event

          The Labour Minister commenced the event on “combining the power of the state to promote elderly employment” for 2019. The event was integration with the public sector, private sector and civil society that aimed to reduce inequality, promote a better quality of life and develop professional skills for the elderly to become self-reliant and have a good quality of life.
          On March 13, 2019, at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo commenced the event on “combining the power of the state to promote elderly employment” for 2019, alongside Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, the ministry’s executives, representatives of state agencies and 12 companies, which took place at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram Conference Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour. The Labour Minister said that the Ministry of Labour as the primary agency with a mission to promote, develop and protect benefits for the Thai workforce in all target groups, by promoting the quality of life for elderly workers including the provision of measures to support the elderly as an essential policy. For example, this includes the goal to employ and raise the quality of life for 100,000 seniors, comprising 20,000 in the system and 80,000 informal elderly workers, to create a career for the elderly while also building the workforce to drive current and future development to create a foundation for sustainable development. Therefore, preparing the elderly society is essential and it is imperative that all sectors, including the government, private sector, civil society as well as local communities cooperate to promote the preparation of the population to step into the old age with excellence, especially living in retirement, to be able to plan a life with value based on self-reliance, with family support, community assistance, a supportive society and living in society with dignity with a good quality of life.
  

 

 

 The Permanent Secretary of Labour added that today’s event was a collaboration in the form of civil state, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the promotion of employment to the elderly. Joining the event were 8 government agencies, 12 private companies and 3 civil society organizations. There was also the simulation of work in the workplace, job applications, registration for workplaces that require elderly workers, professional demonstration and practices and an exhibition of from elderly home workers.
