“Pol.Gen. Adul” Concerned for Thai Workers in Israel and Urges Labour Office to Provide Immediate Help

          The Labour Minister showed concern for Thai workers in Israel and urged the local Labour Office to monitor the situation and provide immediate support to the workers. He affirmed that families do not need to worry as if workers are affected, the Ministry of Labour will provide comprehensive care.

  Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo showed concern about the situation in Southern Israel that attacked by missiles and ammunition by the Hamas group in Gaza since the night of November 11, 2018. In a VDO conference, the Labour Minister assigned Minister Counsellor (Labour Section), Mr. Sakdinat Sontisakyothin at the Labour Office in Israel (Tel Aviv) to monitor the situation and assist the affected Thai workers. In the initial stage, the Labor Office has conducted a review of data with Israeli employment and security agencies where no Thai workers have been reported injured or killed. He also announced that Thai workers in Southern Israel monitor the situation and be prepared by grouping together for ease of communication or preparation for moving out of risk zones. Group representatives have been selected to coordinate with the Labour Department and embassy if there is unrest. He asked that all Thai workers keep up with the official news and review practices in the case of an explosion or shooting, as well as strictly follow the advice of local Israeli security officers. According to the Department of Employment’s information, there are currently 26,799 Thai workers in Israel.

 Pol.Gen. Adul added that he urged the Labour Office to prepare to assist and facilitate Thai workers in Israel and monitor situations that will affect Thai workers. If there is an impact on Thai workers abroad, problems must be resolved quickly. He asked that families and relatives of Thai workers in Israel to be sure that the government and Ministry of Labour are concerned and ready to protect all Thai workers who may suffer from such a situation, including the protection of Thai workers to maintain benefits according to employment contracts and local laws.
