The Labour Minister met with young workers, elderly people and people with disabilities at the Big C Extra department store, Rama 4 road, under the “Pracharat Ruam Palang – Creating Young Workers” program. The Labour Minister was delighted that youths were interested in applying for part-time work to earn an income during school holidays, building skills and experiences in preparation to join the workforce.
On March 21, 2019, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo met with young workers and seniors with disabilities at the Big C Extra department store, Rama 4 road, Klong Tan, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and the ministry’s senior executives also joined the event.
The Labour Minister said that today, he visited young, elderly and disabled workers in Big C. The young workers were students participating in the “Pracharat Ruam Palang – Creating Young Workers” program, who work during school holidays or vacations. The Ministry of Labour took applications for people interested in joining the program on February 1, in the area of Big C Extra, Rama 4 Branch, Khlong Tan, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. 41 young workers were working in 8 companies, including 5 people at Swensen’s, 5 people at Hajiban Ramen, 3 people at Mr. Donut, 8 people at KFC, 5 people at Tummua, 4 people at McDonald’s, 2 people at Hong Min Chinese Restaurant and 9 people at Oishi restaurants. The students were in grade 6 and vocational students aged between 16 – 17 who were working in 2 employment periods which are 4 hours per day during the semester and 8 hours per day during school holidays, with 1-hour rest.
From participating in the project, the young workers will have a chance to develop skills that are in line with the needs of the domestic labour market and have a basis for stepping into a quality workforce to increase national productivity.
