On November 2, 2018, at the Ministry of Labour, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo presented pension contributions under the Social Security Fund in the total amount of 106,156.28 Baht, to the father, mother and two children of Ms. Srinual Prawan, a Thai worker and native of Bua Yai district, Nakhon Ratchasima, who passed in South Korea. She was a houseworker in Daegu since November 14, 2017 and died from failing in the bathroom. Ms. Srinual was an insurer under Section 33 since March 22, 2001 and ended her insurer status on November 10, 2017. She had contributed 186 cycles to the pension fund, totaling 106,156.28 Baht,
Pol.Gen. Adul explained that according to information from the staff, on October 31, 2018, Mr. Somchai Prawan, the brother of Ms. Srinual, the deceased, asked for help at the Daily News newspaper as his sister Ms. Srinual, had worked in South Korea as a houseworker since November 14, 2017, and died from falling in the bathroom. Mr. Somchai requested help to cover hospital expenses in South Korea in order to return the body to Thailand for a funeral ceremony.
Miss Pinyuda Chamchansri, Minister Counsellor (Labour Section) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, asked the consular office at the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, and became aware that the consular was informed on October 31, 2018, and had authorized the company to manage the funeral. The embassy kept in contact with relatives continuously and is currently in process of a funeral procession, but no one was responsible for the funeral expenses. As for the relatives claim that there was no communication with the embassy in South Korea, it was not the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul. If the family is unable to cover expenses for the funeral, they are able to contact the Department of Consular Affairs for a loan and return it later. However, the Labour Department will continue to inquire about the death at the consulate.
