“Pol.Gen. Adul” Proactively Publicizes Legal Labour Benefits Among Migrant Workers

              The Labour Minister visited Chiang Rai to observe public relations activities providing knowledge and services to workplace employees, ensuring access to social security benefits, the compensation fund, labour protection and welfare, employment and skill development, human trafficking prevention and resolution, and the ability to check their own rights.

 

 

 

          On October 28, 2018, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo observed public relations activities to share knowledge and services to workers at Cha 101 Co., Ltd. in Mae Salong Nok, Mae Fa Luang, Chiang Rai. The company is in the business of manufacturing drinks, preserved foods, tobacco, curing and baking tea leaves, and currently employs 49 people comprising 38 migrant workers from 3 nationalities, 6 workers from highlands and 5 Thai workers. The Labour Minister explained that foreign workers have played a significant role in the employment of Thai society, and thus it is imperative that the Ministry of Labour ensure migrant workers are aware of right and can access their benefits, including the understanding of social security law, compensation law and other relevant laws. Thus, activities were organized to raise awareness and understanding for employers and employees who are insured, and also strengthens businesses in terms of capital, management and more efficient care for workers.
          The social welfare knowledge program provided to foreign workers in 2018 is to provide knowledge workplaces where foreign workers are insured, to strengthen knowledge, understanding of social security benefits, compensation law, labor protection and welfare, employment and skill development and prevention and resolution of human trafficking.
          As of October 4, 2018, there were 11,551 registered foreign workers in Chiang Rai, 1,320 were of other foreign nationalities, 10,231 were migrant worker from the 3 nationalities (Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos) whereby 9,730 were Burmese, 373 were Laos and 128 were Cambodian. For Cha 101 Co., Ltd., the 38 migrant workers comprised 37 Burmese nationals and 1 Cambodian national. This project aims to provide knowledge and understanding among the migrant workers to correctly understand their rights.
          Furthermore, Pol.Gen. Adul presented a gift to Mr. Nimit Yualee, 40, an insurer under Section 33 who became disabled from a cerebrovascular accident and high blood pressure at Cha 101 Co., Ltd. in Mae Salong Nok, Mae Fa Luang, Chiang Rai.
