“Pol.Gen. Adul” Visits Geneva and Emphasizes Thai-ILO Relationship in Preparation for 100th Anniversary Celebrations

             The Labour Minister led the executive committee to meet ILO Director-General, Mr. Guy Rider in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss ways of cooperation between Thailand and the ILO, strengthening long-lasting relationships and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Thai-ILO relations.
             On January 31, 2019, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo; Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark; Director of the Department of Employment, Mrs. Petcharat Sinauy and committee, met with ILO Director-General, Mr. Guy Ryder at the Cabinet’s room, Office of International Labour Affairs, Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting discussed official issues and the cooperation between Thailand and the International Labor Organization (ILO) to strengthen relations, and preparations to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Thai-ILO relations, on the occasion of the ILO 100th anniversary in 2019. Thailand joined as a founding member of the organization since 1919 and has since established a strong and lasting relationship.
             Labour Minister General Adul Sangsingkeo as the overseer of labour missions in Thailand, discussed the role of Thailand in celebrating the ILO’s 100th anniversary and Thai-ILO relationship. He said that Thailand, as co-founder of the ILO, was pleased to be selected as one of 24 countries to participate in the 24 hours Global Tour, which will be broadcasted live on April 11, 2019, at 10:00 – 11:00 hours (time in Thailand). The program is currently under preparation with the ILO Office in the Asia Pacific and the ILO Office of Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, and many other agencies Including representatives of employer and employee organizations.
             Pol.Gen. Adul spoke about the progress on preparations for the ILOs 100th anniversary and Thai-ILO relations celebrations. He said that the essence of the celebrations was the signing of the Thailand Decent Work Country Program. There will be representatives of the Ministry of Labour, employers, employees and ILO office in Bangkok who will join the signing ceremony. There will also be the preparation of the 100-year history book of the Thai-ILO relationship and a commemorative stamp to create awareness of the importance and valuable cooperation of the organization, as well as those related to the world of work, both past, present and future.
