Prime Minister meets fishermen to organize labor and push Samutsakorn into seafood hubs

             Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha, Prime Minister, visited the Samut Sakhon Provincial Service Area. The visit of the Foundation for the Promotion of Workers Quality of Life (LPN) Sub-district, Bang Khae Phraek Sub-district, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon was attended by H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Labor, Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark, Permanent Secretary for Labor, Mr. Anurak Tossarat, Director General, Department of Employment welcomed and reported on the progress of the registration of foreign workers in the Central Region. Mr. Sompong Srakaew, Director of the Workers’ Compensation Promotion Network (LPN), who received the Outstanding Worker of the Year for the Promotion, Protection and Protection of Human Rights, welcomed and watched the work of the Foundation.

 

             The Prime Minister and his delegation received a briefing on the operation and visit of seafood processors and staff / workers at Thai Union Group Plc., Tha Sai District, Muang , Samut Sakhon. Me. Prapas Malakarn, Governor of Samut Sakhon reported on the development of Samut Sakhon as Hub of Seafood. The Prime Minister and the delegation also reviewed and briefed on the implementation of the Samut Sakhon Fishery Association. It is located at Mahachai, Muang. Samut Sakhon, with a group of fishermen and people in the area to welcome. The Prime Minister also received a report on the installation of the Thai Fishing Vessel Identification System (VMS) and the acquisition of fishing vessels. The Iris Scan System and the OSS report in Samut Sakhon Province are also available.

             Lower Central including Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Phetchaburi and Prachuabkirikhan have 1,320,320 workers, 1,312,136 unemployed, 8,184 unemployed, 0.62% unemployed, 16,429 unemployed persons, 333 insured persons, 530,626 foreign workers, 3 foreign nationals and other nationalities. 303,360 workers, 15,474 general workers, and 5,021. Problems found in Samut Sakhon such as employers not cooperating in labor inspection. Labor inspectors are not sufficient to inspect the target enterprises.
