Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned his Advisor to visit and give words of encouragement to Thai workers traveling abroad for work in Israel’s agricultural sector. He spoke about the importance of sending Thai workers to work abroad, bringing income back to the country after the Covid-19 situation is resolved.
On September 30, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned AdvisorAdvisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, to visit and give words of encouragement to Thai workers, traveling to work in the Israeli agricultural sector at the jobseekers checkpoint, Department of Employment, international terminal within the Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bang Phli, Samut Prakan. The Labour Minister’s Advisor said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha had given great importance to the deployment of Thai workers to work abroad. Each year, Thailand sends over 100,000 Thai workers to work overseas, earning over 100,000 million Baht in income. Since the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, the situation has been under control, as Thailand has various measures that have been successful in controlling the outbreak.
Mrs. Thiwalrat said that in the past, the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Employment had sent workers to work in the Israeli agricultural sector, under state-to-state arrangements following the Thai-Israel cooperation project for employment. This is a collaboration between Thailand and Israel that has been operating since 2010 until now. Today is the delivery of two Thai worker groups: 131 new workers and temporary returning workers to Thailand, where travels to Israel were delayed due to the Covid-19 situation since February 2020. Furthermore, 83 employees have returned to work in Israel, totaling 214 people. The workers traveled by air charter aircraft Asia X Flight XJ 208, departing from Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 12.40 hours and arriving at Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel, at 19.45 hours.
Mrs. Thiwalrat said that for the Thai workers traveling to Israel, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin showed his concern to all Thai workers traveling to work in Israel. He asked for them to study the law, culture, and traditions of Israel, and more importantly, avoid involvement with drugs and alcohol abuse, resulting in a loss of work. He said that in Israel, the laws have severe punishments. He also asked the workers to collect experience in returning to develop the country and save money to support their families. The Labour Minister reminded the workers to apply to the fund, helping jobseekers working abroad. Members of the fund will receive support and assistance when encountering problems abroad, following the fund’s rate. He emphasized that the Thai workers follow the government’s procedures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 as well.
