On 13 June 2011, Mrs. Kanjana Wongsuwan, Minister Counselor (Labour Affairs), Mr. Sadinath Sontisakyothin, Counselor (Labour Affairs), Ms. Pichayada Poomlaocheang, Secondary Secretary, and officials from Office of Labour Affairs in Singapore went to inspect 160 Thai workers living at Scal Greenfield Dormitory, a foreign workers dormitory which can accommodate some 3000 residents. It is currently housing some 2,700 foreign workers, the majority of whom are Indian, and Bangladeshi.

Most of the Thai workers living there work for HSL Constructer Pte Ltd, a construction company. All the accommodation expenses including water and electricity bills are paid by their employers. Scal Greenfield Dormitory has 4 three-storey dormitories. Each of the storey has 20 rooms with only one exit/entrance door. Twelve workers share each dorm room; each of them has their own private cabinet.  They sleep on a bunk bed and fans are installed in each room, with air-conditioner available on worker’s request. Kitchen, dining room, and bathroom are located on the ground level. It also has a fitness located between 2 of its dormitories. Around the dormitory compound, there are restaurants, convenient stores, car parks. The dormitories are in place with 24 hour security; all its residents must show their ID to enter/exit the buildings.

The Royal Thai Embassy-Office of Labour Affairs in Singapore also distributed guidebook foreign worker guidebook, Thai worker registration form, legal-documents concerning danger-sickness benefits, employment brochure, tax-refund guide, as well as first-aid kits to Thai workers. They also informed Thai workers about the advance election date for eligible voters residing outside the Kingdom, which is set on 16-19 June 2011
