Labour Minister Takes PM Orders to Urgently Support the Families of Victims of the Mass Shooting in Nong Bua Lamphu.

          The Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, spoke about the shooting inside a child care center in Tambon Uthai Suwan, Na Klang District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province, causing 37 deaths and ten injured people. He expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured in the shocking incident. The Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, ordered the relevant agencies to urgently support the families of the deceased and wounded. The Labour Minister has instructed the Social Security Office to pay compensation benefits for the two deceased insured persons. The first person is Mr. Santi Prathumchai, an insured person under Section 33 and an employee of the Uthai Sawan Subdistrict Administrative Organization. He died while performing work duties. His beneficiaries will receive entitlements from the Compensation Fund, which includes funeral expenses of 50,000 Baht, 120 months of compensation in the event of death amounting to 1,078,560 Baht, and old age pension of 35,226 Baht, totaling 1,163,786 Baht. MOL Prepares to Support Exploited Thai Wild Fruit Pickers in Finland and Affirm Standard Measures for Deployment

          On October 5, 2022, the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, reported that the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security had coordinated internally with the Embassy in Helsinki, and the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 17 Thai workers who filed a complaint to the Finnish police for cases of forced labour, borrowing money from Thailand, bad accommodation and unfair wages. Today, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, assigned him and his team to pick up this group of Thai workers who have returned with a coordinator as the fruit-picking season has ended. The group will arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 16.25 hours on Finnair flight AY 143. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Joins Ceremony to Receive Royal Robes to Perform the Robe Offering Ceremony and Contributions to the Royal Tuition Scholarship Project for Thai Monks

            On October 5, 2022, at 13.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, assigned the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, to join the ceremony to receive the royal robes to perform the robe offering ceremony and contributions to the Royal Tuition Scholarship Project for Thai Monks. The occasion was chaired by Privy Councilor Mr. Plakorn Suwannarat, with participation from the heads of 23 government agencies. Thai Technical Trainees Pleased that PM Assigns Labour Minister to Pay a Visit to Their Organization in Japan

          On October 1, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Minister Counselor (on Labour), Ms. Sadudee Kittisuwan, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives visited 35 Thai workers at Kanemi, Matsudo Branch, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Mr. Akiyoshi Shonobe, President of Kanemi, the management team, and the Aifamily Cooperative Society, an organization that accepts technical interns, welcomed the delegation. Kanemi is in the ready-to-eat and frozen foods business. It consists of an outside sales business that produces and delivers food products for convenience stores. It also receives finished products as a home delivery service to consumer cooperatives in each region. Kanemi Foods Co., Ltd. started accepting foreign trainees for the first time in 2013. Currently, there are 781 trainees training in 12 sub-branch factories across the country. The Matsudo district branch recruited 35 technical interns and skilled workers. Labour Minister Concerned for Thai Workers Amid Taiwan Earthquake Instructs Labour Ambassador to Caution Thai Workers

          On September 19, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, spoke about the earthquake in the northeastern city of Taiwan that happened in the middle of the night on September 17. Aftershocks followed, hitting 6.8 on the Richter scale. The Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister, General Prawit Wongsuwan, has monitored the situation and showed concern for all Thai people residing in Taiwan. He has emphasized that relevant agencies warn Thai people in Taiwan to be cautious of the situation. As for the Ministry of Labour, the Labour Minister has instructed Labour Ambassadors to alert all Thai workers to be more careful, to monitor the situation and information closely, and strictly follow the official instructions, as there may be many aftershock waves following. MOL Visits Chiang Mai to Create Awareness Among Foreign Workers on Working Legally and Accessing Welfare

          On September 16, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, gives importance to enhancing equality in the basic rights of workers working in Thailand, whether Thai or foreign workers, ensuring they are treated equally. Such workers are key in driving the country’s economic and social development.          On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 09.30 hours, Yasothorn Provincial Governor Mr. Cholthee Yangtrong chaired the opening of the TO BE NUMBER ONE festival for Yasothorn in 2022. Labour Minister Reports Results of Policies on Managing Foreign Workers to Support the Country’s Revival After COVID-19

          On September 14, 2022, the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the announcement of the operating results and policy direction for managing foreign workers. The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswon, reported the event’s objectives. The Ministry of Labour’s executives, association representatives, organizations, civil society/employers, and related agencies also participated in the event, which took place at the Ministry of Labour’s meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.           Mr. Suchart said that during the COVID-19 situation, the Ministry of Labour followed the Cabinet’s resolution on April 7, 2020, to manage the COVID-19 situation as a national agenda while the situation was ongoing and after the situation had subsided. Labour Minister’s Assistant Welcomes Executives from the Chonburi FTI to Discuss the Provincial Minimum Wage, Support Measures, and Registration on Employment of People with Disabilities

            On September 13, 2022, at 14.00 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, to welcome Mr. Kittiwut Sasiwimonphan, Secretary-General of the Federation of Eastern Industries, and the executive committee of the Federation of Thai Industries in Chonburi Province, to meet and discuss the minimum wage rate of Chonburi and measures to help employers following the economic situation.           On September 12, 2022, at 13.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mrs. Bubpha Phanpeng, joined the subcommittee meeting on the secondary law enacted under the draft Social Security Act (2nd Committee) No. 5/2022.
