Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, disclosed the case of a Thai worker who passed away in Israel on March 1, 2026, stating that she had received a report from the Overseas Thai Workers Administration Division confirming that one Thai worker had died. The deceased was later identified as Mr. Amnat Prachit, a resident of Khon Kaen Province. He had initially travelled to work in the agricultural sector in Israel on November 6, 2016, later returned to Thailand, and subsequently travelled back to Israel for work again on September 18, 2019. He returned to Thailand for a second time on November 8, 2022, after which there was no record of further overseas employment. The case only came to light again upon notification of his passing. Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, disclosed figures on job placements between September 26, 2025, and February 1, 2026, stating that 66,741 people were placed in jobs domestically through the Thai Mee Ngan Tham (Thailand Has Jobs) system. Most placements were in the manufacturing sector, sales staff, general office personnel, warehouse staff, and drivers. In addition, the JOB EXPO THAILAND 2026, held from January 16–18, 2026, resulted in a further 3,795 people being successfully placed in employment. The Labour Minister stated that the deployment of Thai workers overseas has also achieved highly satisfactory results. During the period from September 26, 2025, to February 1, 2026, the Ministry of Labour successfully facilitated the overseas employment of 40,086 Thai workers, representing 77.09% of the target of 52,000 placements. Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, disclosed that she has instructed the Labour Section at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to closely monitor and take care of Thai workers in Iran. Initial assessments indicate that 38 Thai workers remain safe amid the ongoing protests against the government, and coordination is underway should evacuation become necessary. Ms. Trinuch further stated that the Labour Section has issued advisories to Thai workers to exercise increased caution when travelling, to avoid areas where protests are taking place, and to refrain from participating in any anti-government demonstrations for safety reasons. Thai workers have also been advised to closely follow updates from the Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran, the Labour Section in Abu Dhabi, as well as announcements from Iranian authorities. October 23, 2025, 16.45 hours, Free Zone Office Building, Suvarnabhumi Airport – Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, together with senior executives from the Ministry of Labour, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. Dr Alona Fisher-Kamm, Ambassador of Israel to Thailand, attended the ceremony to receive the body of Mr. Sonthaya Akkrasri, a Thai worker who lost his life in Israel during the Israel–Hamas conflict, after being held hostage since October 2023. Upon arrival at the Free Zone area in Suvarnabhumi Airport, Ms. Trinuch, along with her delegation, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. October 8, 2025 — Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, has ordered an urgent investigation into the case of a Thai chef who reportedly died in Cambodia after being denied medical treatment. According to an initial report from the Social Security Office in Sa Kaeo Province, the deceased was a native of Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and had previously been employed by a private limited partnership company in Thailand. Records show that the individual had made social security contributions for only two periods, the latest being in May 2024, with no further payments thereafter. A review of the Department of Employment’s database found no record of overseas employment registration, indicating that the individual had traveled to work abroad independently, without going through official channels of the Ministry of Labour. The person was also not a member of the Fund to Assist Job Seekers Working Abroad.
