October 15, 2025 at 13.00 hours – Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, together with M.L. Kraksiwat Kasemsri, Chief Advisor to the Minister (Foreign Affairs), Ms. Bunnada Supiyaphan, Political Spokesperson of the Ministry of Labour, and Mr. Pichet Thongphan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, visited the foreign workers’ work permit production centre and presented work permits to foreign business professionals working in Thailand. The event took place at the IT Square building, Laksi District, Bangkok.
Ms. Trinuch, Minister of Labour, stated that she attaches great importance to addressing labour shortages in the business sector to ensure the continuity of business operations. The management of migrant workers remains one of her key policy priorities, particularly through the development of modern, convenient, rapid, transparent, and verifiable administrative processes. Today’s visit marked the presentation of work permits to foreign professionals who applied via the e-WorkPermit system, under the “Outsourcing Service Project for the Production of Work Permits and the Provision of Application and Notification Services for Migrant Workers”. The system officially launched nationwide on October 13, 2025, through the website eworkpermit.doe.go.th. Since the launch, a total of 18,563 users have registered in the system, comprising 8,899 employers, 308 licensed recruitment companies, 7,084 authorised representatives (NorJor. 16), 65 government agencies and foundations, and 2,207 employees of all nationalities.
Mr. Pichet Thongphan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, explained that the e-WorkPermit system simplifies and streamlines the entire service process for work permit applications as follows:
- Register on eworkpermit.doe.go.th and create a user profile.
- Submit applications for new or renewed work permits electronically. Migrant worker information is automatically retrieved from their registration data, while employers only need to enter their identification number for pre-filled details.
- Pay fees online via the e-Payment system for quick, convenient transactions without the need to travel.
- Wait for online verification of documents and receive approval notifications via email, SMS, or Line Official Account.
- Book an appointment online to select a preferred service center, date, and time, avoiding long queues and unnecessary travel.
- Attend the service centre to verify identity, complete biometric registration, and collect the approved work permit, a process taking less than one hour.
“The Department of Employment has established 54 Work Permit Service Centres nationwide to support the new system, comprising 40 foreign worker service centres, 5 entry and termination centres, 8 mobile service units, and 1 operations control and supervision centre.”
“Employers and business operators can obtain further information via the website eworkpermit.doe.go.th, Facebook page: DOE e-WorkPermit, or by contacting the Ministry of Labour hotline at 1506 (press 2 for the Department of Employment) or the Department of Employment hotline at 1694,” said Mr. Pichet
