Unemployment Compensation Disbursed to Over 200,000 Insured Persons, Totaling 618 Million Baht; Minister Trinuch Instructs Social Security Office to Expedite Relief Payments

          Ms. Trinuch Thienthong, Minister of Labour, revealed that she has instructed the Social Security Office (SSO) to expedite the continuous disbursement of unemployment benefits to insured persons affected by unemployment. The latest report indicates that unemployment compensation payments totaling more than 618 million baht have already been disbursed to over 200,000 insured persons. She stated that previous delays in payment were due to the upgrading of the processing system. However, following improvements in both the IT system and administrative management, the SSO has been able to accelerate the disbursement process. Social Security Offices in all provinces have mobilized personnel and extended operating hours from 06.00 to 20.30 hrs. to expedite the review and approval of payment orders, with the capacity to process more than 35,000 cases per day. Labour Minister Assigns Pol. Maj. Gen. Nantachat to Support 18 Crew Members Stranded in Phuket Ocean

          On March 8, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister’s Office performing duties for the Ministry of Labour Police Major General Nantachat Supamongkol to visit the area to help Thai workers in sea fishing boats at Ratsada Pier in Phuket. Police Major General Nantachat said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, prioritize improvements on the prevention and solution of trafficking in persons to Tier 2 to comply with international standards and the International Labour Organization while advancing policies on the prevention and elimination of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. This investigation is a collaboration between the Ministry of Labour, the Marine Police, and NGOs, including Stella Maris, the IJM Foundation, and the SR Law Office. Labour Minister Shows Concern for 318 Employees from Oil-Palm Cooperative Assembly in Krabi; Urges SSO to Urgently Assist in Rightful Benefits

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin showed concern to the 318 employees of the oil-palm cooperative assembly in Ao Luek, Krabi, whereby the employer issued a notice to cease business operations and dismiss employees, effective from March 1 onwards. The SSO and the Ministry of Labour’s agencies have proactively followed up on the cause of the business cessation announcement, and the termination of employment and have urgently provided assistance and remedial rights under the law.           On March 8, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the oil-palm cooperative assembly case in Ao Luek, Krabi, whereby the company announced a business closure and laid off 318 employees. Assistant to the Permanent Secretary Joins 18th SLOM+3 Meeting

          Today (October 27, 2020) at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Ms. Pattraporn Samatrat, as head of the delegation as ASEAN Senior Labour Officer (SLOM) for Thailand, to attend the 18th ASEAN Plus Three (SLOM + 3) Senior Labour Officials Meeting through video conference at the Sangsingkeaw Meeting Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.
