Labour Minister Explains Online Registration Process to Insured Persons at Risk to Get Covid-19 Screenings Starting April 17 at the Thai-Japan Youth Center in Din Daeng, Bangkok

          On April 14, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that in the past week, cases of people infected with Covid-19 have increased in the country. Many cases are linked to entertainment establishments, pubs, and bars. The NHSO has notified that people at risk of Covid-19 can be screened in all public and private hospitals nationwide to enable timely screening and treatment and block the spread of infection. The Prime Minister is concerned about insured persons amid the pandemic. Therefore, he instructed the Ministry of Labour to work with the Ministry of Interior (Bangkok) and NHSO to increase channels for Covid-19 services, to reduce congestion, and facilitate insured persons in the social security system under Section 33, 39, and 40. Labour Minister Carries out PM Orders for MOL Officials and Staff to Work from Home to Prevent Covid-19

         Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Ministry of Labour has carried out the Prime Minister’s orders for government officials and workers in the department to work from home to help the nation prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic outbreaks until the situation resolves.          On April 14, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the Covid-19 pandemic.          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Prime Minister was concerned for insured persons amid the Covid-19 outbreak. He urged the Ministry of Labour to work with the Ministry of Interior, NHSO, and Bangkok Administration, to add more channels for the Covid-19 services to reduce congestion and facilitate insured persons in the social security system under Section 33, 39, and 40, located in the Bangkok area. Labour Minister Emphasizes for Social Security Hospitals to Care for Insured Persons at Risk of Covid-19 to the Fullest

​          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin emphasized that hospitals in the social security system cooperate in caring for insured persons at risk of Covid-19 to their fullest abilities. ​          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the number of Covid-19 cases has increased, especially in the red-area provinces. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under its supervision give importance to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during the Songkran Festival holidays and to prepare in all respects if the outbreak becomes more severe. The Labour Minister has charged social security hospitals to cooperate in taking care of Covid-19 risks. Labour Minister Reveals Cabinet’s Approval to Extend Covid-19 Screening and Biometrics Collection for Two Months

        The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Labour’s proposal to extend the Covid-19 screening period and collect biometrics to June 16, 2021.         Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the assessment on the situation of migrant workers by the Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee found that some may not be able to perform Covid-19 tests and the collection of personal identity information (Biometrics) by April 16, 2021. Therefore, by enabling migrant workers to stay in the Kingdom and work legally, employers/business operators would have workers drive their businesses. Such workers are under the government sector’s supervision to manage the risk of the Covid-19 pandemic and effectively manage workers who are trafficked in the Kingdom. Thus, the Cabinet passed a resolution approving for migrant workers according to the Cabinet’s resolution on December 29, 2020, and resolution on January 26, 2021, to extend the period of Covid-19 screening and personal identity collection (biometrics) from the original deadline of April 16, 2021, to June 16, 64. Labour Minister Proposes Extension on Covid-19 Screening and Biometrics Collection for Migrant Workers until June 16, 2021

          On April 5, 2021, at the Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee Meeting No. 3/2021, the committee approved the extension of the Covid-19 screening period and the collection of biometrics for migrant workers of the three nationalities (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar) from the original deadline of April 16 to June 16.           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, as the Chairman of the Board for the Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee, acknowledged the concerns of employers and business operators regarding foreign workers according to the Cabinet’s resolution on December 29, 2020, together with the Cabinet’s resolution on January 26, 2021. Labour Minister Orders Inspection of Brokers Bringing Illegal Workers into the Country with Fears of Further Covid-19 Outbreaks

          The Ministry of Labour received the Prime Ministers’ policy to inspect migrant workers in border areas after finding migrants fleeing the violence in Myanmar to look for work in Thailand.           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin revealed that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha is concerned about the spread of Covid-19 from migrants who fled from the unrest in Myanmar to Thailand.             On March 19, 2021, at 10.00 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin attended the meeting of the Covid-19 Disease Situation Management Committee No. 4/2021 through a video conference. The meeting discussed the appropriateness of extending the period for declaring the state of emergency in all areas throughout the Kingdom for the eleventh time and adjusting the level of the situation in the areas throughout the Kingdom.           Today (March 15, 2021) at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Pattaraporn Samantarat, welcomed Director of the International Labour Office for Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos Mr. Graeme Buckley, along with experts and staff of the Academic Cooperation Program, to attend a meeting to discuss the technical cooperation project of the International Labour Organization. MOL Joins Meeting at the Center of the Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA)

          On February 25, 2021, at 08.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathian joined a meeting at the Center of the Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) at the Santimaitree Building, Government Houses. The meeting was chaired by Secretary-General of the National Security Council General Natthaphon Nakaphanich, covering the following agenda items:           1. Project to increase the efficiency of Covid-19 screening in Mae Sot, Tak.           2. Monitoring and driving public health measures to tackle the problem of the next phase of the disease.           The meeting considered the issues according to the first item on the project to improve the efficiency of Covid-19 screening in Mae Sot District, Tak, in organizing a Covid-19 screening system and safety zone following disease control measures to prevent further Covid-19 outbreaks.
