Ministry of Labour to Celebrate its 32nd Anniversary on September 23. Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, announced that the Ministry of Labour is preparing to hold its 32nd anniversary celebration on Tuesday, September 23, at the Ministry of Labour, located on Mitmaitri Road, Din Daeng, Bangkok. The programme will include a ceremony to pay respects to the sacred sites of the Ministry of Labour, a Buddhist chanting ritual, and an alms-offering to monks. In addition, representatives from government agencies, the private sector, labour networks, and the media will be invited to join in extending their congratulations. An exhibition will also be held to showcase the Ministry’s major achievements over the past 32 years. This year, a logo design competition for the 32nd anniversary has also been organised. President of MOL Housewives Association Awarded Prestigious “Petch Kanok” Award in the “Justice” Category for 2023–2024

May 24, 2025, 13.00 hours – Ms. Thiamkae Thapchaiyut, President of the Ministry of Labour’s Housewives Association, received the “Petch Kanok” Award in the “Justice” category for the year 2023–2024, presented by the Association of Film and Sound Program Producers. This honour recognizes exemplary individuals and organizations who embody virtue, sacrifice, and contributions to society and the nation. Ministry of Labour Wins 3 Awards for Excellent Financial and Treasury Performance for 2023 Fiscal Year

On February 24, 2025, at 09.00 hours, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, reported that today, the Ministry of Labour received the award for Organization with Excellence in Financial and Treasury Performance for the 2023 fiscal year, awarded by the Comptroller General’s Department, Ministry of Finance. Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance presided over the award ceremony. Government agencies that received awards attended the event at the Santi Maitri Building, Government House. Mr. Boonsong said that the Ministry of Labour’s Office of the Permanent Secretary of Labour received three awards, consisting of 1) the Outstanding Government Accounting Award, 2) the Outstanding Safety Award on Infringement Prevention, and 3) the Honourable Award for Promoting Excellence in Financial and Fiscal Management. MOL Discusses 2023 Fruit Picking Season with the Thai Ambassador to Finland to Improve Travel Arrangement Through Employer Arrangements

          On October 25, 2022, Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, said that the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned him to chair the meeting to discuss the direction of study and analysis of the relevant legal framework of Finland and Thailand. The meeting took place at the Tian Achakul Conference Room, 10th floor, Department of Employment. The Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasatien, the Thai Ambassador to Helsinki, Ms. Chawanat Thangsamphan, and the delegation joined.           Mr. Surachai said that the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin traveled to visit Thai wild fruit collectors in Finland and Sweden in September 2022.           On September 22, 2022, at 13.30 hours, Nonthaburi Provincial Labour Officer, Mr. Wichit Suwanmak, assigned Labour Academic Ms. Sopita Inyawong to participate in a pilot seminar on building an understanding of the use of information technology as a tool for the performance of labour volunteers, and guidelines for driving the operations of labour volunteers in the 2023 fiscal year. The occasion took place at the Din Daeng Room, Princeton Hotel Bangkok. Mr. Krittapat Kruthakul, Director of the Bureau of Inspection and Evaluation, presided over the opening ceremony.

MOL Prepares MOL Prepares Action Plan for the Management of Informal Workers for 2023-2027

            On January 18, 2022, at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong presided over the workshop’s opening ceremony to prepare the Action Plan for the Management of Informal Workers 2023 – 2027. Advisor to the Labour Minister Dr. Chamlong Chuayrod and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud joined in honoring the opening ceremony of the meeting at Jompol P. Phibulsongkram meeting room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour. The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour said that the COVID-19 situation greatly affected various occupations. It has resulted in new career models of employment through digital platforms as well as causing more workers to choose occupations known as informal workers. Academically, it is expected that even if the COVID-19 situation unfolds, the career direction will continue to trend this way in the future. MOL Chairs Workshop to Prepare Informal Workers Management Action Plan for 2023 – 2027

          On November 17, 2021, at 08.45 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud chaired the workshop to prepare an action plan on the management of informal workers for 2023 – 2027 at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram Conference Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour Building. The meeting was held to serve as a framework for driving the implementation of the promotion, protection, and development of informal workers. The key items to determine the direction on implementing three strategies were: 1) Strengthening social security and expanding coverage. 2) Strengthening the potential of informal workers for work. 3) Enhancing the management capacity of informal workers. The ministry was honoured by Prof. Dr. Supachai Srisuchart, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University, who joined as a speaker.          On November 9, 2021, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong chaired the 13th Social Security Committee Meeting No. 23/2021 at the Amphol Singhakovin Meeting Room, 6th Floor, Administration Building, Social Security Office. The meeting took place via conference. The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, also attended the meeting. The important meeting resolutions were as follows:          1. Approval of the 3-year government action plan by the Social Security Office (2020-2022) and the revised version for 2022 by adding an ad hoc plan to develop the Social Security Office from the COVID-19 situation.          2. Approval to adjust the plan to develop an information database system to assess the results and effects of the three-year working capital (2020-2022) of the Social Security Fund. The adjustment is from the original project to develop an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as a system for applying for dental benefits.          3. MOL Joins Subcommittee Meeting on Monitoring, Advising and Accelerating National Reforms and the Preparation and Implementation of the National Security Strategy No. 23/2021

          Today (August 25, 2021) at 13.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Niyom Songkaew joined the subcommittee meeting on monitoring advising and accelerating national reforms and the preparation and implementation of the National Strategy on Security no. 23/2021. The First Deputy Chairman of the Committee, General Worapong Sanganet, chaired the meeting, which took place online via Cisco Webex Meetings at the Saengsingkaew meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The meeting considered the action results to prevent and solve human trafficking, following the plan on prevention and resolution of problems affecting the security in terms of maintaining internal security within the Kingdom and guidelines on national development: a prevention and resolution plan to human trafficking problems in 2021. Section 39 Insured Persons in 13 Red Categorized Provinces Receive Remedy Payments on August 23

          On August 23, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the progress on transferring remedies to help insured persons affected by the announcement of “curfews” and “lockdowns.” He said that today (August 23, 2021), remedies would be transferred via PromptPay accounts linked to ID card numbers to Section 39 insured persons at 5,000 Baht each. The remedies will be paid to 1,123,746 people, amounting to over 5.6 billion Baht. The effort aims to alleviate the suffering and reduce living and daily expenses among insured workers.           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin added that he was concerned about workers in the areas who have received remedies. He has instructed the Social Security Office (SSO) to accelerate the remedies transfer, but some insured persons have not received the remedies due to unsuccessful money transfers. The main reason was mostly that accounts had not been linked to PromptPay and an ID number. Therefore, he asked that insured persons under Section 33, 39, and 40, eligible in the 29 provinces, including those missing from the past transfer cycle, check their accounts.           On July 8, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the opening of the COVID-19 Vaccination Center for Section 33 Insured Persons at Central Plaza Chonburi and Amata Castle, Muang, Chonburi, to build group immunity for insured persons in four economic provinces, namely, Chonburi, Rayong, Samut Prakan, and Chachoengsao.
