MOL Spokesperson Reports Government Process on Supporting Employment for Over 100,000 New Graduates

          On August 24, 2021, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, revealed that the COVID-19 situation from 2020 to the present had affected businesses and jobs worldwide. Thailand has been affected by employment in tourism and service businesses. Still, the manufacturing and export sectors, especially in the automotive, electronic circuit board, medical equipment, and frozen food industries, have a great demand for workers. This is because many countries are unable to export products. The government under the leadership of Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha has not been inactive. It gives great importance to workers looking for a job, especially new graduates impacted by COVID-19. Therefore, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin has ordered the Department of Employment to source vacancies from both the private and public sectors to support.           Mrs. Theanrat said that there were 575,230 new graduates in 2020, comprising 140,755 vocational certificates, 122,585 high school diplomas, and 311,890 at the bachelor’s degrees level. Labour Minister Assigns Secretariat to Receive Complains from Former Employees of Brilliant Alliance Terminated Without Compensation

          On August 18, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, and Advisor to the Labour Minister Dr. Chamlong Chuayrod to receive complaints from former employee representatives of Brilliant Alliance Co., Ltd., in Samut Prakan, where the employer closed the business and terminated employment without compensation. The company is situated at 393 Moo 17, Bang Sao Thong District, Samut Prakan Province. The company’s business is producing women’s undergarments with 1,318 employees. Mr. Suthep said that the government is concerned about all employees in the event of layoffs due to the impact of the COVID-19. SSO Prepares 26 Vaccination Sites for Section 33 Insured Persons for Second Jab Starting August 16

          On August 13, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that the Ministry of Labour’s Social Security Office has carried out COVID-19 vaccinations. The first dose has been given to over 1.3 million Section 33 insured persons since June 7. The working group on the management and distribution of the vaccine has prepared a vaccination center to serve Section 33 insured persons with the second dose of vaccinations, which will begin on August 16, 2021. All vaccines are AstraZeneca branded.           Mr. Suchart said that the second dose of vaccinations would start on August 16, 2021, onwards. Insured persons are divided according to the following vaccination formula. The first is (AZ+AZ), insured persons who received the first dose as AstraZeneca and will be due for the second dose within 12-16 weeks. The second dose will be the same, that is AstraZeneca. Deputy Labour Minister Sends Team to Deliver Food Boxes to Encourage Medical Personnel Fighting COVID-19

          The Deputy Labour Minister sent a team to deliver food boxes to medical personnel to encourage them as they fulfill their duties caring for COVID-19 patients.           On July 28, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat reported that the COVID-19 situation continues to spread, impacting the workforce. Medical personnel has to work hard to cope with the ever-increasing number of patients. Today, she assigned the team to deliver food boxes to Busarakham Hospital (Field Hospital), the Central Chest Institute of Thailand, and Srithanya Hospital, to encourage medical personnel and so that they have the food they can eat conveniently, quickly, and safely.
