Mr. Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit, Minister of Labour, revealed that after receiving an urgent report from authorities in Chonburi Province regarding many Chinese and Myanmar migrant workers illegally employed at a plastic molding factory in Nong Bon Daeng Subdistrict, Ban Bueng District, he immediately instructed the Director-General of the Department of Employment to dispatch a special operations unit to the site. He also stressed the strict enforcement of labor laws. In addition, the Labour Minister ordered the establishment of a “Committee on the Inspection of Employment Conditions, Forced Labour, and Worst Forms of Child Labour among Migrant Workers” to ensure rigorous oversight across all dimensions, including unfair employment, forced labour or services, and child labour in its worst forms. On May 24, 2025, Mr. Ari Krainara, Secretary to the Minister of Labor, presided over a ceremony to present basic vocational toolkits (livelihood starter kits) to graduates of two training programs. June 23, 2025, 20.00 hours – Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, together with Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, Labour, and Mr. Sakdinart Sonthisakyotin, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, and accompanying officials, welcomed and extended encouragement to 22 Thai workers who were employed by Chemo Aharon Ltd. in Israel. These workers, engaged in the industrial sector under two-year contracts, were part of a short-term project that has now concluded, leading to their return to Thailand. The Permanent Secretary stated that these workers were originally scheduled to return to Thailand on June 16, 2025, but due to the unusual and unstable situation, their return was delayed. May 14, 2025 – Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, Director-General of the Department of Employment, and other senior officials, visited the Republic of Korea to lead the “Thailand MOL Overseas Matching in the Republic of Korea” project in Seoul. The project aims to open new labour markets for Thai workers and promote legal overseas employment. Mr. Phumipat Mueanchan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, revealed that Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, is closely monitoring and expediting the work of the Trai Thep Phithak Special Task Force, which was established under the Labour Minister’s directive. The task force is tasked with inspecting employment conditions, labour practices, forced labour or services, and the worst forms of child labour among migrant workers. April 28, 2025 — Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, and Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of Labour, led a delegation of senior executives to Nakhon Phanom Province to conduct a comprehensive inspection of labour-related operations. The visit was in conjunction with the official Mobile Cabinet Meeting aimed at strengthening the grassroots economy in the Upper Northeastern Region 2 (Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, and Sakon Nakhon). Mr. Phumipat Mueanchan, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson, revealed that Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, sent his best wishes to fellow workers in the formal sector and independent workers on the occasion of the Thai New Year or Songkran Day 2025. During this year’s festival, the Ministry of Labour has requested the cooperation of employers to allow their employees to take a break from work and stressed that drivers must not work over 8 hours per day, must not do more than 2 hours overtime and must have a 10-hour break between shifts, for the safety of the driver and all passengers. On April 3, 2025, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, revealed that from the earthquake on March 28 and the building collapse that caused injuries and deaths, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, gave great importance and took immediate action. He instructed the establishment of a war room to help workers within 1 hour after the incident broke out nationwide. Currently, as of April 2, 2025, the Ministry of Labour has assisted by paying compensation to 22 affected people through social security benefits, totaling 17,388,375 Baht, divided into 850,000 Baht for funeral expenses, 15,568,392 Baht for compensation in the event of death, and 969,983 Baht for old age pensions.
