PM Shows Concern about Deceased Thai Women in Oman and Instructs the Labour Minister to Assign Five Labour Leaders to Visit the Family in Sakon Nakhon

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the case of the media that published news on social media via Facebook that a Thai woman named Praew was thrown from a 4th-floor building in Oman, causing her death on May 27. The Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha care for all Thai workers working abroad and expressed his condolences to the family of the worker who passed away. The Labour Minister received a report from Mrs. Palida Ruamkham, Ambassador Counselor (on Labour) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The report said that from coordination with the Embassy in Muscat, Oman, it was learned that the said Thai woman, Ms . Supparat Nganlasoma, from Sakon Nakhon Province, traveled on a tourist visa to work as a massage therapist in Oman. Her husband is also in Oman. The incident happened, which caused her death. Currently, the police are investigating the case, which may take about a week or more, depending on the case. MOL Joins Foreign Worker Management Fund Committee Meeting No. 4/2022

          On May 30, 2022, Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, chaired the Foreign Worker Management Fund Committee Meeting No. 4/2022. The Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian, and the Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General, Ms. Boonwee Khuaphan, honourable and relevant persons, attended the meeting at the Tien Achakul Meeting Room, 10th floor, Department of Employment. Labour Minister Visits Khanom for Bartender Training Course to Develop Workforce to Support the Tourism industry’s Recovery After COVID-19

         On May 27, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin visited the area to meet and encourage the trainees of a bartender course under the labour potential development project to support tourism and services through skill upgrading courses. Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Joins Meeting to Prepare for the Senate’s 3-Year Seminar

            On May 27, 2022, at 09.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Panpeng joined the meeting to prepare for the Senate’s 3-year seminar on June 8, 2022, for the committee to monitor, recommend and expedite national reforms. The meeting also covered the preparation and implementation of the 2nd Senate National Strategy online. Labour Minister and Two Director-Generals Visit the CI and PIPO Centers on Migrant Worker Management

          On May 26, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian, and the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Director-General Mr. Niyom Songkaew, visited the operations of the Port In-Port Out (PIPO) Control Center in Ranong Province. Deputy Governor of Ranong Province, Mr. Nopsit Udomsuwankul, welcomed the team at the Ranong Fisheries Checkpoint. Labour Minister Awards Blue Factory Establishment Certificates as the Private Sector Shows Appreciation for the “Factory Sandbox” Project to Support Employment and Business Continuity

On May 20, 2022, the Labour Minister  Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed Mr. Noriyuki Kitasato, President of Aishin Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., and his team, on meeting the Labour Minister to receive a certificate for the blue factory establishment through the the “Factory Sandbox Project.” The certificate was awarded to Aishin Corporation, a subsidiary of automobile manufacturers. At present, there are ten affiliated companies and 14 affiliated companies in Thailand, with 13,129 employees. On this occasion, the Labour Minister also received 2,000 bags of rice weighing 5kg each from the company’s representatives. The donation is to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and alleviate suffering. This is beneficial to the workforce, an important part of driving Thailand’s business and economy.             On May 18, 2022, at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin and the Ministry of Labour’s executives and civil servants joined in the welcome for the courtesy call to Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan by Mr. Steve Trent, Executive Director of the Environmental Justice Foundation. The meeting discussed labour and fisheries reforms in the Thai fishing industry.           On May 2, 2022, at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Wannarat Srisuksai, as a representative in the subcommittee meeting to drive the implementation of cooperation at the ministerial level of countries in the Greater Mekong Sub-region to combat human trafficking, no. 1/2022. The meeting took place via electronic media at the Sangsingkaew Conference Room with representatives from the Department of Employment, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, and the Office of the Secretariat of the Labour Trafficking Prevention Command Center. The meeting considers the preparation of the fifth Coordinated Mekong Ministerial Initiative (COMMIT) or “Commit Process” and the 15th Senior Officials Meeting. It also sets the time frame and activities according to the ministerial cooperation framework of countries in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. This cooperation is between the governments of six countries in the Mekong sub-region, including Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand.
