The Labour Minister reported that an employment agency in Samut Sakhon was in consultation with Sinsakhon Industrial Estate Business Association to assist 147 employees who did not pass their probation period. It concluded new jobs for 84 people, whereby 28 people wished to return to their home provinces, and 35 are in coordination. On September 25, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul reported the progress of assisting employees in the case of Apex Circuit (Thailand), Samut Sakhon, which terminated the employment of 147 employees. He said that the Ministry of Labour by the Samut Sakhon Provincial Employment Office had a meeting with the Sinsakhon Industrial Estate Business Association and the human resources department of the company, to find ways to assist. The Labour Minister showed concern for workers suffering from fire at Central World and reiterated that the 2 deceased workers’ families would receive social security benefits and compensation totaling over 2.8 million Baht. Furthermore, medical expenses and disbursements would be paid for the 15 injured people. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare will investigate and if the employer is found in violation with safety laws, it will be prosecuted immediately. On April 4, 2019, at 09.00 hours, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo chaired the meeting to acknowledge the summary of the performance evaluation following the Ministry of Labour’s policy for 2018. The Labour Minister had previously given strategies focused on 2018, consisting of the 11 agenda-based policies, including, 4 area-based policies, and 6 administration based policies, with monitoring and evaluations from both internal and external agencies. DOWNLOAD IMAGES To understand the process of policy implementation for awareness, expectation, confidence, satisfaction, the impact of application and recommendations on policies and measures focused on the 2018 fiscal year, a study was conducted by collecting data on the performance of agencies within the Ministry of Labour. In-depth interviews with senior executives were performed, a questionnaire for stakeholders was prepared and meetings were held to get opinions from related parties. The results of the performance evaluation for 2018 will be used as a guideline for the implementation of the Ministry of Labour’s policies for 2019.
