Labour Minister Commences 8th Asia Pacific IIW International Congress

“Pol.Gen. Adul” Reports ILO Appreciation of the Thai Government as ASEAN Model on Driving C188 for Fishing Worker Standards

               The Labour Minister revealed to the meeting, the guidelines for the implementation of ILO C188 on working in fishing. He said that ILO’s Director-General Mr. Guy Ryder appreciated the Thai governments’ formation on standards for fishery workers as an example to ASEAN countries, and thanked for all parties for their cooperation and hard work in helping to promote valuable work in the fishing sector under C188.   Download Images                 On March 14, 2019, Labour Minister, H.E. Cabinet Approves Extension on Contributions Payment in 23 Provinces Amounting 18 Billion Baht

             The Labour Minister reported the Cabinet’s approval to extend the deadline for filing a list of contributions and remittances by employers and the insurer in regions that suffered disasters for three months, from December 2018 to February 2019, as proposed by the Ministry of Labour, accounting for approximately 18 billion Baht.             On February 18, 2019, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo reported that in the Cabinet’s meeting today, the Ministry of Labour proposed a draft of its announcement on the extension of the deadline for submission of remittance and payments of employer contributions and the insurers, in areas that suffered from disasters B.E…. for the Cabinet to approve and declare enforcement. “Pol.Gen. Adul” Submits Ratification of C188 to ILO with Intent to Protect Fishing Workers at International Standards

               The Labour Minister submitted for ratification of ILO Convention 188 on Working in Fishing with ILO Director-General Mr. Guy Ryder. The gesture expressed the Thai government’s intention to raise standards on protection of both Thai and foreign workers onboard fishing vessels to meet international standards.

Police General Adul Sangsingkeo, Thai Ambassador and Permanent Representative in Geneva H.E. The Labour Minister met to review and revise the C188 laws, to obtain a clear conclusion from the demands of fishermen before proceeding to submit the ratification on January 30.

 

MOL Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee Meets 2/2018

On December 27, 2018, at 10.30 hours, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo chaired the meeting of Foreign Worker Management Policy Committee 2/2018, along with Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and representatives from relevant agencies. The meeting considered an additional meeting to determine the work prohibited from foreign workers along with conditions,  and the consideration of the appointment of a Subcommittee on Foreign Worker Management Policy. “Gen. Adul” Acknowledges 14 Requests and Affirms Conclusion within 1 Month Before Ratifying C188 on 30 Jan 2018

             The Labour Minister ordered the setup of a small working group to consider and answer 14 requests from fishermen in the 22 coastal provinces and to form a settlement within one month. “Pol.Gen. Adul” Leads Officials to MOL Friendly Football Match 2018

            The Labour Minister led the Ministry of Labour’s executives to participate in a special football match between the ministry’s executives, employer and employee organization and network partners, and the Japanese management team in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). “Pol.Gen. Adul” Emphasizes Government’s Righteousness in Enactment of C188 Laws for Sustainable Fishing

            The Labour Minister confirmed the government’s move to enact legislation on C188, justified at every step for the benefit of the people. The enactment will promote sustainable treatment of workers in fishing among entrepreneurs and be the most benefit to the workers themselves, also contributing to the resolution of human trafficking, forced and illegal labour. The Labour Minister emphasized that the enactment would not affect local fishing.             On December 24, 2018, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo spoke about the opposition of fishermen groups in 22 coastal provinces that did not want the government to ratify the ILO Convention No. 188 on working in the fisheries sector, 2007, after meeting with relevant agencies at the Prasong Rananant Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour. MOL Skills Development Promotion Committee Meets 10/2018

              On December 24, 2018, at 09.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark chaired the Skill Development Promotion Committee meeting 10/2018 at the Pakorn Angsusingh Conference Room on the 10th floor, Department of Skill Development, Ministry of Labour. Labour Minister Visits MOL Booth at Red Cross Fair 2018 at Lumpini Park

            On December 1, 2018, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo and his wife visited the Ministry of Labour’s booth at the Red Cross Fair 2018, where he was welcomed by Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and the ministry’s senior executives . The fair was organized by the Thai Red Cross Fair Administration Committee at Lumpini Park from November 23 to December 1, 2018. The Ministry of Labour’s booth, hosted by the ministry and the Housewives Association, joined 3 activities this year including; 1) The ancient and rare Thai kites contest won by Ms. Orapin Boonnok from the Social Security Office; 2) The red cross booth contest which received an award from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, President of the Thai Red Cross Society and; 3) The Red Cross Commendation Award, represented by Ms. Juthamas Wareerat from the Social Security Office on November 24, 2018.
