Labour Minister Assigns Advisor and Spokesperson to Visit and Encourage Insured Persons Getting Booster Doses at Central Rama 9

          On January 18, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Labour Minister’s Advisor, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, to visit the area and encourage insured persons under Section 33 to get their third jab (booster dose) of the COVID-19 vaccine at Section 33 Insured Persons Vaccination Center, Central Rama 9 Shopping Center, Ratchadaphisek Road, Huai Khwang District, Bangkok. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics), Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, also joined the occasion. Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, is concerned about the health and safety of workers and insured persons. Labour Minister Prepares Nearly 20,000 Beds in Hospitels For Insured Persons to Support COVID-19 Patients

          Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the progress on bed management to support Sections 33 and 39 insured persons infected with COVID-19 from the current pandemic situation. He said that the Ministry of Labour by the Social Security Office had prepared hospital medical personnel in the social security network, with nearly 20,000 beds in Hospitels; approximately 12,000 beds have been used. Once the insured person recovers and the doctors allow them to go home, the beds will be empty again. Insured persons are circulating in and out every day. At the same time, the Social Security Office will coordinate to find additional beds to support adequate treatment of the insured. Labour Minister’s Assistant Commences Thai-Cambodian Bilateral Meeting to Promote Ethical and Fair Recruitment During and After the COVID-19 Outbreak

            On January 14, 2022, at 09.00 hours, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong presided over the opening ceremony of the bilateral meeting to promote the ethical and fair recruitment of workers between Cambodia and Thailand during and after the COVID-19 outbreak. The meeting took place via teleconference system on Zoom. He said that migrant workers from neighboring countries are important in driving Thailand’s economy in various industrial sectors. There are over 2.1 million registered migrant workers from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, of which 448,492 are Cambodian workers. Most of them work in the construction, agriculture, services sectors, manufacturing or sale of food and beverages, wholesale, retail, and market stalls.             Thailand and Cambodia signed the first MOU on Labour Cooperation in 2003. It was considered the starting point for promoting the regular and safe migration of Cambodian workers to work in Thailand, promoting comprehensive and ethical employment to prevent human trafficking, and eliminating exploitation among migrant workers. MOL Joins Executive Committee Meeting of the COVID-19 Situation Administration

            On January 7, 2022, at 09.30 hours, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud participated in the Executive Committee Meeting of the COVID-19 Situation Administration No. 1/2022 via Zoom at the Sangsingkaew Meeting Room, 5th Floor, Ministry of Labour. Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha chaired the meeting at Santi Maitree Building (outside building), Government Houses.             The meeting considered situational leveling and preventive measures to control diseases, the adjustment of disease prevention measures for entering the Kingdom, the vaccination service plan, and the drug supply plan for the treatment of COVID-19 (antiviral drug Paxlovid) of the Center for Emergency Medicine and Public Health, in the case of COVID-19. On January 5, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin welcomed Mr. Shiozaki San, President of Minebea Public Company Limited, together with his delegation on the occasion of meeting to express appreciation to the government, Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, and the Labour Minister. MOL Joins 19th ASEAN & Japan High-Level Officials Meeting on Caring Societies

          On December 9, 2021, at 13.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mrs. Tongjai Suthat Na Ayutthaya, to join the 19th ASEAN & Japan High-Level Officials Meeting on Caring Societies through teleconference, which took place at the International Cooperation Bureau Conference Room, 12th floor, Ministry of Labour. Japan hosted the meeting.           The conference’s main theme was “guidelines for good mental health care in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic”. The meeting discussed and exchanged information on important issues such as mental health policies and services for working people, pregnant women, and nursing mothers, mental health service personnel training in the local community, and assistance for medical personnel providing mental health services. MOL Commences 29th Class of New Official’s Training

          On December 7, 2021, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud presided over the opening ceremony of the training course for the development of the Ministry of Labour’s new civil servants, Class 29. The said training aims to instill the philosophy of being a good government official and developing civil service practice skills. The training also aims to promote moral and ethical practices and allow participants to develop their working network.             On November 29, 2021, at 13.30 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong chaired the meeting of the Foreign Workers Inspection Subcommittee Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. MOL Receives 150,000 masks from Private Sector to Prevent COVID-19

          On November 18, 2021, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong and Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mrs. Tongjai Suthat Na Ayutthaya, received 150,000 masks from Xin Ke Yuan Steel Co., Ltd., led by General Wisit Jangprachak, a company advisor, and Mr. Chen Linfong, Deputy General Manager as representatives. Labour Minister Instructs SSO to Help Blind Section 39 Insured Person to Receive Remedies Urgently

          On October 29, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin spoke about the incident where the Social Security Office’s Spokesperson Ms. Ladda Saelee received a complaint through the program “Rueng Nee Tong Roo,” which was broadcast on the Thai Broadcasting Station on October 28. He said that Ms. Busakorn Charoenchai, the complainant, is blind in both eyes and has the status of an insured person under Section 39. She is entitled to receive compensation from the government but cannot link her PromptPay account to receive the compensation as she is a person who the court has ruled for bankruptcy. Permanent Secretary Delivers Rice to Motorcycle Taxies to Alleviate Suffering from COVID-19 Impact

            On October 20, 2021, at 13.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong donated 88 bags of rice, at 2 kg per bag and two bags per person, to motorcycle taxis around the Ministry of Labour’s gate number 1. The rice was given to 20 people, with Mr. Siam Thepphochan as the recipient. Rice was also given to 24 motorcycle taxis at gate number 5, with Praphan Rodpai as the recipient. A total of 44 people were given rice bags to alleviate their suffering and to alleviate the burden of expenses from the impact of the COVID-19 situation.
