Assistant to Permanent Secretary joins 4th Employment Working Group

          Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mrs. Pattana Phanfak led the delegation attending the 4th Employment Working Group (EWG) in Matsuyama, Japan, between August 29-30, 2019. The meeting’s objective was to develop the draft the Minister’s Declaration on Labour and Employment G20 for 2019, finalize the direction of the future of work, with the people as the center before certification at the Ministerial Meeting on Labour and Employment G20 between September 1-2, 2019. The meeting focused on the discussion of new forms of work, the way forward, and additional details in conjunction with the draft declaration in the annex. 
 
 
          The draft declaration consisted of 4 main topics: 1) policies related to the changing demographics structure to support the aging society 2) policies related to longer working life resulting from the aging society 3) New forms of employment such as long-term care and 4) gender equality promotion. The draft declaration is a document showing the intention of the G20 member countries and the countries that are invited to join (including Thailand as the ASEAN chair) towards policy direction to support changes in the population structure and future of work. The declaration is not legally binding, and the Cabinet has approved the draft charter on August 27, 2019. Thailand benefitted from the discussion during the meeting to prepare a new policy formulation in line with the Thai context.
