On September 2, 2021, a group of labour leaders led by the Chairman of the Bangkok Street Hawker Club, Ms. Yada Phornpetchrampha, led members to submit a letter of thanks and encouragement to the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan. The Prime Minister assigned Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin to receive the letter on his behalf. Mr. Sompong Sophon, Member of the House of Representatives of Rayong Province, Mr. Surasak Chingnawan, Member of the House of Representatives of Sa Kaeo Province, Mr. Watchara Yaohasan, Member of the House of Representatives of Narathiwat Province and Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanaphat Kittiwongsa, Member of the House of Representatives of Chanthaburi Province also participated in this occasion, which took place at the letter submission point, first floor, Parliament Building (Kiakkai).
Chairman of the Bangkok Street Hawker Club, Ms. Yada Phornpetchrampha, said that today, Bangkok Street Hawker Club and members had sent a letter of thanks to the Prime Minister, presented at the Parliament Building. The letter expresses their gratitude to Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, whereby Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin collected the letter in person. She said that as a grassroots and vulnerable group, they had the opportunity to participate in the “Shops to Workers Sharing” project, preparing lunch boxes for campsite workers. They prepared 200,000 food boxes in the first phase between July 12 to 27, 2021, and 80,000 boxes in the second phase between August 21 to 31, 2021. The allocation of food boxes helped hawker stall members to survive. Today, members joined the visit with their hearts, intending to tell the MPs that almost 5,000 members have received remedies, including applying as a Section 40 insured persons receiving 5,000 Baht per person for two months. Thus, the members came to show support and thank the Prime Minister. Ms. Yada said that they had seen the work of government and the Ministry of Labour during the COVID-19 where they had no income and therefore wanted to show the public today that they have come to encourage and protect good people who work for the country.
Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin said that he was commissioned by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha to personally receive the letter of thanks from the workers who visited to support the Prime Minister. He said that the Prime Minister himself and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who supervises the Ministry of Labour, is greatly concerned about the workforce, continuing to monitor the impact of the COVID-19 situation on the economy and the well-being of the people. He ordered all ministries to work together and sent his care and concern to all workers and groups, instructing the Labour Minister to help heal and care for the workforce thoroughly so that the labour sector and businesses can continue to walk together without leaving anyone behind. The efforts aim to help the nation overcome the COVID-19 crisis together.
