Deputy Labour Minister Acknowledges Security, Prevention of Human Trafficking and Foreign Labour Policies

               On August 24, 2020, at 10.00 hours, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Assistant Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Parkin Sommitthanakul, working group committee Mrs. Jureeporn Sinthuprai and Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol visited Rayong to attend a briefing on human trafficking of migrant workers, fishers and security issues. Rayong Provincial Governor Mr. Surasak Chareonsirichot gave a welcoming.

               The EEC areas has 5 provinces, namely Rayong, Chonburi, Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi and Trat. There are 258,697 foreign workers from 3 nationalities (Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia), 6,835 of which are in the sea fishing business, where there is a constant demand for foreign workers in the marine fishing business.

               There was also a presentation regarding security and operational aspects of Rayong Province. The four key issues were security, presented by the Provincial Administration of Rayong, support and disaster relief, presented by Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, human trafficking prevention and suppression presented by the Rayong Provincial Police Office, and management of the entry-exit of Rayong fishing boats presented by the PIPO Center in Rayong Province. After the presentation, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan gave operational policies to relevant departments.
