On August 22, 2020, at 13.30 hours, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat along with Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Capt. Thammanat Prompao observed the labour services in Phrae and gave out subsistence bags to 330 people suffering from professional difficulties and low-income groups. The occasion took place at the Eastern Lanna Convention and Exhibition Center and GMS (Kor Pao), in Thung Hong, Mueang Phrae, Phrae. Assistant Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Pakin Sommitthanakun, Mrs. Jureeporn Sinthuprai, the working group, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also participated in the activities and gave out subsistence bags to the people. Phrae Governor Mrs. Kanprempreed Chitanont led the visit and activities.
The Governor of Phrae thanked the Deputy Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives for realizing the suffering of the people from the disaster and impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as providing full and continuous assistance.
The labour situation in Thailand has been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, causing people in the workforce to be laid off and unemployed. Many people have suffered from a career break and have not received labour benefits. Phrae was affected by the pandemic. Businesses closed down, causing people to be laid off and unemployed, suffering from occupational difficulties. The province also faced issues from natural disasters, especially the drought, which has caused affected people to not have an income and work.
Today’s activities included the provision of labour services from the Ministry of Labour, under the Ministry of Labour’s project to drive Thailand forward together in 2020. Activities included an exhibition by the Phrae Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office, which brought products from informal labour groups to exhibit, including indigo tie-dyeing from Rong Phong. The exhibition also showcased processed products from training by the Office of Skill Development in Phrae, such as local pork farming, pandan shredded pork, and crispy pork cutlets. There was also an exhibition of works from the Ban Rim Yom Farmers Group, with herbal teas and honey roasted ginger, including glassmaking from coconut shells and processing corn into corn milk for health.
The Phrae Provincial Skill Development Office brought the work from the training to sew quilts, cloth bag making, keychain making, and professional training from teak to be exhibited at the event as well.
The Phrae Provincial Social Security Office presented an exhibition to create knowledge and understanding about applying to be an insured person under Section 40. They brought hand-painted bags as souvenirs and gits from Huai Fai, Sung Noen, Phrae, to exhibit.
In addition, there were exhibitions to educate the people of the Phrae Land Development Station, by bringing the land reform exhibition, arranging arable land for farmers to develop and maintain agricultural areas. The activities and visit today aimed at alleviating the suffering for the people and delivering happiness to the people in Phrae province as well.
