Deputy Labour Minister Expresses Concern for Flood-Affected People; Orders Officials to Provide Urgent Support

               The Deputy Labour Minister ordered the Department of Skill Development to coordinate with provincial Skill Development Offices in areas affected by the floods to urgently help urgently and prepare home electrical equipment repair service, along with motorcycle and agricultural engines damaged by the flood for free, and provide skills training after the flood subsides.

               On August 24, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumol Pinyosinwat reported that the Ministry of Labour has continuously monitored the flood situation in the North, which has been affected by the Storm Hegos, and expressed concerned for the affected people. She has therefore ordered the agencies of the Department of Skill Development located in the area to support the people, in cooperation with various agencies in the province. Support includes the evacuation of necessary items above the water, such as electrical appliances, vehicles, and professional equipment, and evacuating the area quickly to ensure the safety and minimal damage.

               The Deputy Minister of Labour added that the Department of Skill Development has assigned the Office of Skill Development in the area to arrange staff to assist immediately once they get cooperation from the provincial administration. Initially, the office has prepared to service affected equipment, providing home electrical equipment repair services, including motorcycles and agricultural tools and equipment, without charge. The next phase will organize training courses related to the repair of homes, vehicles and electrical appliances, in order to upgrade skills during the time of no work from the flood situation. This will allow participants to apply the knowledge to further their careers.
