Deputy Labour Minister Responds to Government Policies for the EEC IN Accelerating Digital Skills for the Workforce

                On August 25, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, together with Assistant Secretariat to the Labour Minister Mr. Parkin Sommitthanakun, Mrs. Jureeporn Sinthupraiand and working group committee  visited Star Hotel Convention in preparation for the offsite Cabinet meeting No. 2/2020, chaired by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha.

                Before the meeting, the committee visited various exhibitions, including a viewing of the Office of Non-Formal and Informal Education’s products under the ONE brand (Rayong, Chachoengsao, Chonburi), and innovative work: Depa 2.5 application in the smart boat system development project at Laem Chabang Port. They also observed the Warehouse Management Development Project, in Ban Noen Sawang Community Enterprise which creates rubber products. The Digital Economy Promotion Agency from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society had an exhibition on how the EEC benefits the local people, whereas the Office of the Eastern Economic Corridor Policy Committee hosted an exhibition on the Circular Living project. PTT Group hosted an exhibition on information systems for education equality, or iSEE 2.0, to report the increasing situation of poor students after being affected by the Covid-19 crisis, which may harm the public. After visiting various activities, the Deputy Labour Minister was photographed with the Prime Minister, the Cabinet and the governors of the Eastern provincial group (Chachoengsao, Chonburi and Rayong). They also witnessed the granting of permission to use or live in the target areas for community land management, presented by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment to the Provincial Governor of Chachoengsao and the Governor of Rayong.

                The Prime Minister then chaired the Eastern Economic and Social Development Conference for Group 1 (Chachoengsao, Chonburi and Rayong) at the Sunthorn Phu meeting room, 2nd floor. At 10.30 hours, he chaired the official onsite Cabinet meeting No. 2/2020 at Sunthorn Phu meeting room, 2nd floor, Star Convention Hotel.

                The Deputy Labour Minister reported the Ministry of Labour’s responsibilities, especially in raising the skill level of workers going into the EEC. The Department of Skill Development is ready in terms of skill training and promotion of skill standards to receive the wage rate according to their skill standard, especially in digital skills. This is a skill set that businesses have increasing demand for and is a basic qualification in the selection process. The Department has designated career that can be dangerous to the public, whereby workers must be certified for knowledge and competence. It has increased the number of occupational trainings in addition to the indoor electrician profession and has promoted companies to participate in the development of skills and skills for their own employees. There are incentives such as tax breaks and other incentivizing measures, which will be planned together with the Department of Skill Development in aiding workers and organizations to meet the needs of the labour market and the EEC region.
