Deputy Labour Minister Visits Kong Toey to Promote a Quality Workforce and Employment

                The Deputy Labour Minister commenced the mobile skill development project for Thai people to have jobs, giving people access to government services.

                On September 26, 2020, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat launched the mobile skill development project for Thai people to have a job at the Lock 4-5-6 Community Activity Dome, Klong Toey, Bangkok. Member of the House of Representatives Khun Kornit Ngamsukonratana, Advisor to Deputy Minister of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti, the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General Mr. Tawat Benchatikul, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the opening ceremony.

                Prof. Narumon said that she was glad to have the opportunity to meet with workers in the Klong Toey community area. She said that the Ministry of Labour is important in human resource development to strengthen the nation’s economy and society. It does this by leveraging the civil state mechanism to drive missions forward to develop the nation’s workforce. The Ministry of Labour is not only focused on developing skills, knowledge, and competencies to become high-potential workers, but there is also a need to raise the quality of life for workers following international standards. This includes having strong foundations, valuable career opportunities, protection of legal rights, appropriate benefits, fair employment conditions, and safe working conditions, under the three principles, that is to create, elevate and give, Thailand coming together to build a nation, according to the policy set forth.

                The activities in the event included online sales training, freelance career demonstrations, electrical appliance repair services, applications for insured persons under Section 40 by the Social Security Office Bangkok Area 12, recruitment for nursing assistant training by Kluaynamthai Hospital, consultations on increasing labour productivity, training on labour skill standard assessments and certification, and applications for training following the Job Expo Thailand 2020. There were also credit consultations by the Government Savings Bank Credit and the Thai Credit Guarantee Corporation’s advisory. A group of companies in the Skill Development Network joined activities to serve people in the Klong Toey community, including CP All, Charoen Pokphand, Thai Beverage, Thai Nam Thip, Unilever (Thailand), and ICC International. Furthermore, there were haircut services for gentlemen and online business training in Thai cuisine. The Deputy Labour Minister also participated in a demonstration of single dish cooking and online sales.

                The Deputy Labour Minister added that during this time when Thailand is facing the Covid-19 situation, the Ministry of Labour had organized the THAILAND JOB EXPO 2020 during September 26-28, 2020, at the BITEC Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok. The event will allow unemployed people to find job vacancies, with a target of 1 million jobs. The event has booths from leading agencies and organizations from all over the country, including organizations that have an MOU with the Ministry of Labour, coming together to match workers with people by registering through the Thaimeengarntum.com platform and participants. People can also apply for career development within the “Joining in Creating Jobs for Career Development” zone.

                “The implementation of the mobile skill development clinic project for Thai people to have a job is a good project by the Department of Skill Development. It provides opportunities for workers in the area to have access to comprehensive and equitable services, including services by public and private sectors that have joined forces to build the nation, driving Thailand forward together,” concluded the Deputy Labour Minister.
