Deputy Labour Minister Visits the South to Commence MOL Meet the People Event to Promote Employment and Economic Recovery

          The Deputy Prime Minister visited Phuket to commence the Ministry of Labour Meets the People @Phuket event to promote employment. The event aims to support people in the area to have jobs and income, help revive the tourism and services industry from the impacts of Covid-19, and drive the nation forward.
          On November 2, 2020, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan chaired the commencement ceremony of the Ministry of Labour Meets the People @Phuket event at the gymnasium building, Phuket Municipality, Mueang Phuket, Phuket. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin gave a report. Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, and the ministry’s civil servants Phuket joined the reception. The Deputy Prime Minister said that the government focuses on driving the national economy to help restore the tourism and service sectors to recover quickly from the impacts of Covid-19. It aims to promote employment and provide people in the area with a career and income to stimulate the economy, especially for private businesses, to return to normal operations. It can be seen that the Ministry of Labour’s various activities organized today, is a response to the national strategy in terms of development and empowerment of human resources, together with balancing and developing the government management system by developing the workforce in line with the needs of the service and tourism sectors. The efforts aim to enable people of working age to work in their homeland. In addition, there is an infrastructure that facilitates working and learning new skills, promoting the workforce to be upgraded from labourers to brainpower workers, with easy access to funding, innovation, technology, and information. The people have enhanced financial management knowledge, making people of all ages live together in the country with lasting happiness in a society full of harmony. There are peace and safety from various threats, and the workforce encompasses working skills, a career, and a stable income. And at the same time, a government sector works for people with honesty, transparency, care in service, and fast. The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the Phuket Municipality for supporting the venue of this event.
          The Deputy Prime Minister then awarded a plaque and honour certificates to six outstanding labour volunteers in 2020 in Phuket, Krabi, Phangnga, Trang, Ranong, and Satun. He also awarded certificates to five establishments that emphasize the importance of payment through the e-Payment systems and visited booths at the event, including the Phuket Job Fair, with over 30 companies participating in recruiting over 3,000 vacancies. He also observed the Co-Payment activities, career-building events, income-generating products showcase, and products for sale by homeworker group and professional groups in the 6 Andaman provinces, in 69 fields. The visiting party observed skills development activities, training, standards assessments, certification of knowledge, and labour clinics, which will provide consultation on labour disputes. The event also had influenza vaccinations and registration services for insured persons aged 50 years and over and recruiting insured persons under Section 39, Section 40, and social security questions and answers.
