On August 27, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin delivered 1,200 care packs from the Ministry of Labour, and 15,000 chicken eggs to the President of the Motorcycle Taxi Association of Thailand, Mr. Chalerm Changthongmadan, Deputy President Mr. Chamnan Cherdchai, Secretary of the Association, Mr. Santi Patipanarat and Director of the Association Mr. Parichart Tanwaratana as recipients. The care packs and goods will be delivered to 1,200 members of the Motorcycle Taxi Association of Thailand to help families suffering from the COVID-19 situation. Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, the Labour Minister’s Advisor Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayawong, Pol.Maj.Gen. Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, performing duties for the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on politics) Mrs. Theanrat Nawamawat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the occasion at the foyer on the ground floor, Ministry of Labour.
Mr. Suchart said that the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour, supervised by Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, is concerned about the workforce affected and suffering from the COVID-19 situation. Therefore, today, he was assigned to deliver 1,200 sets of care packs, including consumer items like dried food, canned fish, instant noodles, and 15,000 eggs. The Ministry of Labour received donations from the private sector to pass on to workers, including motorcycle taxi drivers, to help families affected by COVID-19. The initiative is a way to support people during a difficult time and is another way to alleviate suffering and food expenses.
President of the Motorcycle Taxi Association of Thailand, Mr. Chalerm Changthongmadan, said that today, his team and himself on behalf of the Motorcycle Taxi Association of Thailand came to express their gratitude to the government, led by Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, and Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin. The visit also aimed to encourage Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and give thanks for recognizing the importance of motorcycle taxi drivers and allowing them to apply for Section 40 and receive remedies of 5,000 Baht each. The members also thanked the government for the care packs with consumer goods, including rice, dry foods, canned fish, and instant noodles, to which they received one pack each, for a total of 1,200 packs, to alleviate the suffering of the families of motorcycle taxi drivers affected by the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
