Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan ordered using the Samut Sakhon model to set up a field hospital in a factory to take care of employees infected with Covid-19 in Phetchaburi. The Labour Minister’s Advisor was instructed to visit the company in Khao Yoi District, Phetchaburi, providing four interpreters to communicate with foreign workers infected with Covid-19. The Advisor also listened to issues build morale and share encouragement to help relax the quarantined employees. She also gave 2,100 paper beds from SCG, 500 packs of drinking water, and five support vehicles for transporting Covid-19 patients while the employees remain in factory quarantine.
On May 23, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the support for company employees affected by the Covid-19 outbreak in Khao Yoi District, Phetchaburi Province. He said that Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan is concerned about the Covid-19 outbreak, especially among employees at workplaces in Phetchaburi Province. Therefore, he instructed the Ministry of Labour to adopt the Samut Sakhon model to resolve the issue. Today, the Labour Minister assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi Province, to visit the companies in Khao Yoi District Phetchaburi. Four interpreters supported the visit to communicate with foreign workers infected with Covid-19, listen to problems, build morale, and encourage the quarantined employees to relax. The Advisor also gave 2,100 paper beds from SCG, 500 packs of drinking water, and five support vehicles for transporting Covid-19 patients while employees remain in factory quarantine.
Mrs. Thiwalrat said that today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned her to visit the area, together with heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi. They paid a visit to the establishment to support operations in emergencies. The Ministry of Labour offered support with interpreters to communicate with foreign workers, listen to the problems and build morale so that quarantined employees feel more relaxed. The visit also provided paper mattresses, drinking water, and a shuttle bus to care for employees at the factory quarantine.
Mrs. Thiwalrat continued that the Phetchaburi Province Provincial Communicable Diseases Committee met on May 22, at 15.30 hours, at the meeting room on the 5th floor, Phetchaburi Provincial Public Health Office. Phetchaburi Provincial Governor Mr. Phakphong Thavipat chaired the meeting. It was found within the large establishments in Khao Yoi District 5,153 swab samples were collected, whereby 421 new cases were found with. The cumulative infection rate totaled 2,111 cases comprising 781 Thai workers, 1,297 Myanmar workers, 19 Cambodian workers, 7 Indian workers, 4 Laotian workers, and 3 Chinese workers. Phetchaburi Provincial Governor Mr. Phakphong Twipat issued an order for government agencies to support the emergency situation in Phetchaburi Province. The Ministry of Labour assigned the Phetchaburi Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office to support with interpreters to communicate with foreign workers infected with Covid-19 and to prepare a letter requesting cooperation for establishments to prepare to set up a field hospital in the workplace, using the establishment’s nursing staff if there is an infection and spread. Furthermore, the Office of Labour Protection and Welfare will gather information on establishments establishing a field hospital. Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi Province Mrs. Wanpen Mangsri leads the working group, whereby heads of agencies under the Ministry of Labour are part of the committee. A way room to manage Covid-19 related issues will be established at the Operation Room, 2nd floor, Phetchaburi City Hall.
