On May 20, 2021, at 10.00 hours, at the meeting room on the 5th floor, Ministry of Labour, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan chaired the meeting to monitor measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives joined the meeting.
General Prawit Wongsuwan said that today was a good opportunity to visit the Ministry of Labour again, to jointly drive measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, for the workforce and the Ministry of Labour’s personnel to remain safe. He thanked everyone for jointly devoting themselves to their utmost ability. He said that one of the most important goals is to accelerate the rollout of vaccinations to cover all Section 33 insured persons, especially in the high-risk groups, following the government’s requirements regarding the Covid-19 vaccines, as a national agenda.
Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported that Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, has emphasized additional work in the following issues: 1) The vaccine administration to be in cooperation with the committee on vaccine distribution, to comprehensively cover Section 33 insured persons and develop an effective vaccination certification system. 2) The proactive Covid-19 screening to be expanded to cover as many high-risk groups as possible and establish surveillance and prevention measures and all worker groups to be safe from Covid-19. 3) Assistance and remedial measures for people affected by Covid-19 must continue for the people and workforce to live amid the situation, such as the “Section 33 We Love Each Other” project. 4) Amendments to Social Security Law are urged to move forward to meet the demand for partial utilization of pension funds following the specified period. 5) To monitor and care for foreign workers, in strict adherence to public health measures, to be safe from Covid-19.
“Today’s meeting also had a video conference with the Provincial Labour Offices and the Labour Offices abroad. The Deputy Prime Minister encouraged the Ministry of Labour’s officials to keep everyone safe from Covid-19 and requested timely checks and assistance to workers affected by the situation, and to drive measures to assist the Ministry of Labour in all dimensions, to jointly develop the country to overcome this situation together,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
