Hospitals Celebrate! SSO Processes Urgent Payments for Medical Services on Schedule

Content Description

Hospitals in the Social Security Office’s network celebrate. The SSO has implemented urgent payments for medical service fees and specified the scope of disbursements on time, helping hospitals achieve financial liquidity. There are no accounting problems; thus, insurers will receive medical services that are convenient and fast.

On December 13, 2019, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul spoke about the case where a medical facility has complained to the Social Security Office that it had outstanding debt, which was medical service fees to hospitals totaling 3,000 million Baht. The debt resulted in a financial impact on the hospitals. The Labour Minister showed his concern and ordered the Social Security Office to accelerate the disbursement of medical fees to hospitals. The Social Security Office has already completed paying all medical facilities.

M.R. Chatumongol also ordered the Social Security Office to set clear boundaries for payment of medical service fees to hospitals, divided into medical services. Flat fees paid by the 10th day of the month, diseases at risk paid by the 20th day of the month, and high-cost diseases paid by the 25th day of the month. Quality thresholds according to indicators for 2018 were paid for, and 2019 fees are payable within January 2020.

Payments for overdue medical service fees of the Social Security Office to hospitals will help hospitals achieve financial liquidity and have no accounting problems, which will result in insurers registered with that hospital to receive convenient medical services that are faster and more efficient.

There are 239 hospitals in the Social Security Office network nationwide. There are 160 public hospitals, 79 private hospitals, and over 13 million insured persons under Section 33 and Section 39. Further inquiries can be made via the Ministry of Labour’s hotline at 1506, press 1 for the Social Security Office.
