Israeli Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call to Labour Minister and Discusses Official Matters

          Today (January 16, 2020) at 14.30 hours, Labour Minister M.R. Chatumongol Sonakul, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Department of Employment’s Inspector-General Mr. Cherdsak Wisutthikul , welcomed the Ambassador of Israel to Thailand Mr. Meir Shlomo and committee, on courtesy call and to discuss the New Agreement TIC as part of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the termination of the Thailand-Israel Cooperation on the Placement of Workers Project (TIC). The Ministry of Labour asked Israel to provide additional support, such as budgets or personnel to conduct basic training for all Thai workers before traveling to work in Israel, which amounts to around 5,000 people a year. The ministry also asked for cooperation with the Israeli authorities to become stricter with drug problems that are prevalent among agricultural workers in Israel and thanked the Embassy of Israel In Thailand for expediting visa issuance processes within 7 days for Thai workers, and for ongoing support in various areas. The meeting took place at the Saengsingkaew conference room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.
