Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Provide Vocational Training Materials to Promote Career Opportunities for Vulnerable Groups in Ayutthaya

           Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned his Advisor to visit Ayutthaya to launch the workforce preparation project, increase employment opportunities, income for vulnerable groups, and provide vocational training materials to occupational groups in “water hyacinth basketry.” They also visited the Nisanat Chada Thai Community Enterprise.

           On March 19, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister, Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, presided over the opening of the workforce preparation program to increase employment opportunities, income and provide materials after project training to occupational groups in “water hyacinth basketry” at the Phayom Subdistrict Community Organization, Wang Noi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. Advisory Board Member to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat and Village Headsman Mr. Thananat Rungchangkamnan from Phayom Subdistrict, Wang Noi, Ayutthaya, also joined the occasion. Mrs. Thiwalrat said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, focuses on improving the quality of life for informal workers, women, the elderly, people with disabilities and vulnerable groups to have work, occupation, income, and security in life.

           Mrs. Thiwalrat said that today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned her to visit Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province to launch the project to prepare the workforce in activities to increase occupational opportunities, income and provide training materials to the “water hyacinth basketry” occupational group in Phayom Subdistrict, Wang Noi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The group had 20 members, with Mrs. Manassanan Rungchaeng as the group’s chairperson. This occupational group has a market to support the purchase of hyacinth products that can be sold domestically and internationally. Members earn a monthly income from 1,500 to 3,000 Baht. The effort aims to establish a training program to prepare workers for the workforce. It provides career guidance for those who are not in the employment system and activities to increase occupational opportunities and increase income. It is a three-day course in “water hyacinth basketry” from March 17 to 19, 2021. Activities include lectures and demonstrations, giving knowledge on group management, fund loans, establishing a group for homeworkers, marketing, and basic accounting. In addition, materials after training are given to trainees to be used for additional occupations, increasing income for members. The group can add value by accepting work to do at home. The initiative further promotes self-employment for the elderly, the disabled, and vulnerable groups to have additional income channels. In the afternoon, they visited the Nisanat Chada Thai Community Enterprise Group in Bang Ban, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.
