Labour Minister Assigns Advisor to Receive Letter of Claims from Labour Network for People’s Rights

          On August 30, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mr. Thanattha Khammawong to receive a request letter from Ms. Thanaporn Wichan, representative of the Labour Network for People’s Rights at the Labour Relations Committee meeting room, 1st floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ministry of Labour. The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare Deputy Director-General Mr. Wannarat Srisuksai, the SSO’s Deputy Director-General Mr. Nanthachai Panyasurarit, and the Ministry of Labour’s executives joined the occasion.

          The Labour Network for People’s Rights claims included: 1) Migrant workers’ access to vaccinations, especially illegal workers. 2) Unsanitary housing in construction camps and lack of medical care when sick. 3) Access to help from the Employee Welfare Fund for legal migrant workers and 4) Migrant workers who have not received remedies and support, whereby requesting to help illegal migrant workers to enter the social security system and register as legal workers.
